The story behind what you seePage 1

By Tom Seinstra and Michelle Westerhuis

To be continued

To Be Continued. A photo is a moment captured. You capture the exact moment of where you are taking the photo, but there is always a story behind it. We want to create a platform where people can share their photos with the stories behind it. A platform where people can read and share their stories. Where photos can have a bigger meaning and a bigger purpose than just a visual or a visually pleasing image. It is a platform of multiple stories where people can add their own story to. It is a world of stories made up of people’s stories which continually adds stories through the bigger storyline.

The main themes of this platform will be nostalgia, memories, the human desire to preserve things. Every photo is a story in and of itself and providing the context around the events leading up to and following the photograph can provide surprising events that one would not guess from the photo itself.

This platform creates the story of the users itself. Because they are part of the story, this will trigger their curiosity and drillability. They

will feel a part of the community behind it and a part of the tree that connects every story together. The story is an ongoing process. It

consistently will continue because there will be new stories to add and old stories to further develop into new ones. This will create

consistently new content and continuity in our platform. The platform holds multiple stories of different users. It is an all-encompassing

platform that continues to grow deeper and deeper each time a story is added.

Protagonist. We wanted to create the story by making the invisible protagonist visible, the photographer.

A photographer is usually not seen on screen, the protagonist you never see. For our platform we made sure that the photographer is the

most important character of it. By doing so, the photographer a.k.a. the user will feel included and important in our platform.

In our platform the tool of the protagonist is the camera. Every story that gets added has one similarity, the camera that took it. The

camera captures the moment, the camera makes sure that you can continue to tell the moment and the story behind it.

The one common goal that each protagonist shares it to preserve the moment/ experience they are in with themselves as with others.

(Online) platform

A platform to store all the photographs and categorise them either by person, life event or theme. This platform serves as an archive of all

the stories and can tie in various media. A physical or digital journal in which a photographer can write their stories along with the photos

they took.

Photographs

The core medium for this concept are naturally the photographs taken by people. These are captured moments in their lives that hold a

memory or experience, be it small or significant.

Audio recording

Allow people to record the story either through their own words, or through the background noise at the moment the picture was taken.

This adds to the atmosphere and emotion of the story behind each picture.

Possible media outcomes,

Camera’s diary A fictional journal in which the camera tells stories from its perspective. Possible mascot/main character for the online platform.

Re-enactments

Recorded re-enactments of the events taking place before, during and after the photograph. Perhaps a contest to see which

interpretation is most popular.

Photograph hunt

A competition to find the exact location a photograph was taken, uses a photograph to create new stories and adventures for other

people,

Visualisation of the platform. Create a big tree that holds all the photographs together, like leaves on branches. By zooming in, one can look into the specific tree of a

photographer or a specific season. Tree grows bigger every time a story is added. The users point of view is from the tree trunk point of

view.   The photos are scattered around the tree trunk. The user can ‘walk’ along the trunk and find different stories from different

authors.  Audio fragments that belong together with the picture will be there so that the user can listen to the story.

The platform will be connected to Instagram. Instagram is an already existing platform where you can share visual content. By

connecting our platform to Instagram we enhance our relationship with the audience and our sharing ability by using the hashtags.
