Dear Carranballac families Year 5/6 from Boardwalk School have been on camp since last Wednesday and the second group will return from Port Fairy tomorrow afternoon. Both camps have been highly successful and I would like to complement our College staff on their commitment to making sure the camps are professionally integrated into the College curriculum. Special thanks goes to the handful of staff who plan and attend the camps throughout the year in order to give your children another opportunity to grow their learning. Please take the time to read this direct email quote from one of the service providers about our magnificent Carranballac 5/6 students and staff: PARENT FORUM: Where: Boardwalk School Performing Arts Centre. When: Tuesday the 8th September at 7.30pm. Next week. Why: For families to hear from the College, to meet staff and Councillors, to have

your say and to ask your questions. The Forum will cover the following areas: College ICT (technology) Vision, Feedback on parent reporting, Director and Council messages, time to address your burning ques-tions and to also hear from you about the many positive aspects of the College. NUMERACY/LITERACY WEEK: I was absolutely delighted to be involved in the College celebration last week. The week culminated in the dress up (maths theme) parades on Friday which were extremely well run by College Guardians. The standard of dress was amazing, the delightful manner in which students paraded was positively Carranballacishly welcoming, the high level of parent participation was most appreciated, the efforts made by both students and staff were a credit to the College. The winning classes; who created incredibly creative door entrances, were treated to book reading sessions by the resident College story teller. An educationally good time was had by all with remarkably high levels of student and family engagement. Congrat-ulations goes to the ' behind the scenes' staff team for their well planned week. I am looking forward to meeting some new families next Tuesday evening. Top secret message for Mum's and children only: Father's Day is just around the corner and our dedicated team of Parent's and Friends have been hard at it to ensure there are enough gifts for students to purchase for their dads this week for this coming Sun-day. I do sincerely hope you all have a lovely week and weekend ahead. Happy Father's Day to all the dads and grand ads, pops and pa's. Brendan O'Brien College Director

Jamieson Way School Report— Principal Sandy Naughton

What an incredible Literacy and Numeracy Week parade last week! Our student leaders led the community with great enthusiasm and confidence. Our student leaders really do an outstanding job in leading whole school events. We are always so proud of the skills and capacity these young people have developed over the years. They do an amazing job at assembly week after week, leading this community on a Monday morning. At spe-cial events they can be relied upon time after time to demonstrate leadership. Thank you to our wonderful com-munity for joining us at this special event. Thank you also to our families for sending in the 5 cent pieces to raise money for such a worthy cause as States Schools Relief. Congratulations to all our Year 7, 8 and 9 students who represented the college in the athletics on Monday. We have quite a few students who will be going through to the next level, but our teachers were very proud of the way in which ALL of our students profiled our college. Well done! Our Year 2 students had a sensational day yesterday for their excursion to Werribee Mansion. Our teachers were so proud of their manners and the quality of the learning that was happening. Well done! Our F/1 stu-dents have been very busy this week making toys. Mr Villani was very impressed with the future expertise being shown. Our Year 5/6 swimming finished today, with our students increasing their safety awareness and developing confidence in their swimming abilities. Confidence and skills are vital for water safety with summer approaching, when we live on this island of Australia. Congratulations to our Father’s Day Stall winners. Our Parents and Friends generously provided four amazing baskets of goodies as ‘extra’ prizes for raffle tickets winners at our assembly on Monday. Our lucky winners were Norah (2 Purple), Rawley (2 Quartz), Jasmine (5/6 Silver) and Jasmine (F/1 Turquoise). Enjoy your child/children this week.

Welcome to Spring and hopefully some warmer days. Congratulations to everyone who took part in the Numeracy based parade on Friday last week. This also ex-tends to those that were part of the planning of this event as well as all other Literacy and Numeracy work done during the week. I hear that our students enjoyed a story or two read by Mr O’Brien and other staff mem-bers. This week we have had students’ from 5/6 A and J on camp at Port Fairy and Warrnambool. After attending last weeks’ camp I am sure they will enjoy their time as much as the first camp. Thanks to our teachers and support staff for their efforts during these activities. Our students have embraced the opportunities and have come home more knowledgeable about our early history in coastal Victoria. Thank you to the Parents and Friends for their amazing effort to provide such lovely gifts for students to pur-chase for their dads on Fathers’ Day this coming Sunday. Next week is our annual Kids Teaching Kids Conference /Science Week at Carranballac College. This yearly event is a week we look forward to each year. We can’t wait to see what our students will teach each other. Our Year 5/6 students will be involved in The Target Western Metropolitan Kids Teaching Kids Conference next week which will be held at Boardwalk School. Thanks to staff and Mr Forrester for all the support and preparation given in the lead up to this event. Lauris Doyle on behalf of Kay Kearney Middle Years Assistant Principal

SCHOOL BANKING School banking now has a page on our new school website. Click on PARENTS tab and scroll down to school banking. The page has information about school banking and it also has a link to an email ad-dress which can be used for all enquires. Concerns have been raised regarding the ‘Cosmic Light Beam Torch’ rewards item due to the inclu-sion of four button batteries that can be accessed by unscrewing the back of the torch. Whilst this reward has been independently tested and deemed to meet relevant product standards the Commonwealth Bank have made the decision to proactively withdraw this item from the School Banking Rewards Program. Parents/Guardians are requested to dispose of any ‘Cosmic Light Beam Torches’ their child may have already received as part of the Rewards Program. Students who have been previously received a ‘Cosmic Light Beam Torch’ are welcome to redeem an alternative reward item.
