Black hard covered 3 ring binder
3 pencils2 highlighters of different

Materials for BandAll Wind Instruments: cleaning kit and a SNARK tuner and the Essential Elements Book 1
Woodwinds: reeds, cork grease, key oil. #3 Vandoren Reeds.
Students are expected to have at least THREE working reeds in their case at all
times.
Brass: valve oil and tuning slide grease along with any mutes
Percussionists:Stick bag to store personal equipment
•Snare sticks (size 5A recommended)
•One pair of medium to hard yarn mallets
•Hard rubber headed xylophone mallets
•Medium or hard timpani mallets (Vic Firth Staccato mallets recommended).
•Drum Key
•Practice pad or drum for home practice

GradingMost of the grading is based on showing up with a positive attitude and trying one’s best
Class Participation - 25 points per weekPerformances and rehearsals - 100 points eachClasswork, Homework, and Tests - usually 10 points eachPractice Records (Band only) – 15 points per week
Homeroom• Jazz band is also homeroom.• I perform homeroom activities on Wednesday.• Students are expected to use their planners every day and have a
parent sign it every day.• Every week we will be performing a planner check in class.• Every 3 weeks students are expected to do a GPA check. Parents
need to sign the grade check before Wednesday of the appropriate week.
• I expect students to maintain at least a B in all of their classes.• Homeroom activities are worth 25% of each students' jazz band
grade.
