This sample of 1,000 likely voters reflects a national voter sample similar to last November that is more Democratic 36% than Republican 33% and there are more voters who say that they voted for Clinton than Trump voters. Powerpoint slides for each of the questions mentioned in this memo are attached. When voters were asked how important an ally Israel is to keeping peace and security in the Middle East to the U.S. and our allies, four in five voters, 82%, said Israel is important to us and 52% said very important. Only 8% said not important. The perception of Israel as an important ally to the U.S. was strong across all political and demographic groups and reached 97% among Jewish voters. Then when voters were asked whether they agree or disagree that Israel is an asset to the U.S. in the fight against the threat of Islamic terrorism, three in four, 75%, of all voters agreed and 40% strongly agreed. Only 13% disagreed. Once again agreement was wide and strong across all political and demographic segments. Trump voters agreed 86% to 8%. Clinton voters agreed 69% to 19% and 97% of Jewish voters agreed. Republicans agreed 87%-7%, Democrats agreed 70%-17% and independents agreed 69%-16%. Then when the voters were asked if they approved or disapproved of President Trump freezing the $221 million that President Obama before leaving office had sent to the Palestinian Authority until the Palestinians recognize Israel’s right to exist and stop supporting terrorism against Israel, six in ten voters, 59%, approved and 25% disapproved. Trump voters approved 80%-16%. Clinton voters approved 43%-35%. Republicans approved 83%-13%. Democrats approved 42%-34% and independents approved 53%-27%. Jewish voters approved 60%-19%. Methodology: This survey of 1,000 likely general election voters nationwide was conducted on February 2 nd – 6 th , 2017. All interviews were conducted online; survey invitations were distributed randomly within predetermined geographic units. These units were structured to correlate with actual voter turnout in a nationwide general election. This poll of 1,000 likely general election voters has an accuracy of +/- 3.1% at a 95% confidence interval. The error margin increases for cross-tabulations.
