New Teacher Induction Program

The New Teacher Induction Program/Teacher Performance Appraisal (NTIP/TPA) application is available on a secure site for easy access for administrators and teachers. The TPA application allows both administrators and teachers to electronically sign off on the appropriate reports. Once signed off, the Summative Report, Enrichment/Improvement Plan cannot be edited.

To Access the TPA Site:

From School: Start Internet Explorer and enter the word Intranet in the address line. From Home: Start Internet Explorer and enter the board address: www.tcdsb.org. Using the staff menu select Home Access. Login in with your school User Id and Password. On the next screen select TCDSB Intranet Web Site

Click on the Teacher Performance Appraisal link 1. in the third column under Applications.

In the next screen, enter your User Id and your 2. Password. The Domain should say CEC.

Click on the 3. Login button.

Individual NTIP Strategy Form

The Individual NTIP Strategy Form is to be completed and signed off by the new teacher in the administrator’s office. The administrator will sign off the form upon the completion of two “Satisfactory” appraisals.

The NTIP Strategy Form is the starting point of the process. It documents your Orientation, Professional Development opportunities and Mentoring done through the NTIP/TPA process.

The teacher will fill in each row in the Goal and Strategies text boxes. A spell checker available on the screen. Click Save and Submit to record the information.

Sign Off

The final sign off by the teacher and the administrator will occur upon completion of two satisfactory appraisals.

The sign off must be completed in the administrator’s office with the teacher initiating the signing off (see page 5 for details)

Teacher Appraisal

How to Begin an Appraisal session:

From the TPA Home Page you will see that your are in Appraisal 1. To change the appraisal session click on the down arrow in Select View and select the appropriate appraisal.

Evidence Log

The Evidence Log is always available to record evidence for each competency. The administrator will also create an Evidence Log independent of the teacher.

To access the log click on Teacher Appraisal Process button and select Evidence Log in the drop down menu.

Evidence Recording

To record one of the Look Fors, click on the Look For listed under the competency. The entry will be recorded (along with the current date) in the Evidence Log window. Date of Entry can be modified by clicking on the date field.

To record additional information not present in the competency, click the Evidence Log button at the bottom of the screen. A blank field will appear to enter text. The date field can be modified.

Moving between Competencies

You can move sequentially between competencies by clicking the Next>> (or <<Previous) button at the bottom of the screen or by clicking on the competencies listed on the left.

Click Save and Submit before moving to another part of the appraisal.

Sharing Evidence

To make your evidence log evidence logavailable to the administrator, click the box at the bottom of the

Summative Report

Teacher Comments

The administrator will make the completed Summative Report available for digital viewing.

Teachers may wish to enter comments in the Optional Teacher Comment Window. The Optional Teacher Comment section is located in the Principal & Teacher Comment tab.

The teacher also has the option to enter the comment in the administrator’s office.

Sign Off

To initiate Sign Off, the teacher needs to be with the administrator with the Administrator logged on to the application.

The teacher initiates the sign off by clicking the Teacher button.

The User id and Password will be confirmed and a date box will appear.

The teacher will click on the down arrow in the date box and a calendar will appear. Clicking on the date will populate the Signature Date box.

To finish the process the teacher clicks the Save and Submit button.

Note: If a Summative Report needs to be re-opened, the teacher is required to initiate the process through the sign off/on procedure process on the administrator’s computer

Enrichment Plan or Improvement Plan

The Enrichment Plan and Improvement Plan are also available in the Teacher Appraisal Process drop down menu if necessary.
