A Toast to LIFE
We celebrate to mark moments in the continuum of time.
We celebrate turning points in life where things change for
the better. We celebrate by making occasions where we
can come together. In coming together to celebrate, we
harmonize together at a higher level. Please raise a glass of
water and toast the idea of 'Celebration' itself with us!
To the Sun that rises in the morning, to the Moon that parts
the night, to the rain that nourishes, to the newborn, the
graduate and the old, to the shift in seasons and change in
weather, to the kindness of strangers, to the mother who
cares, to the music of the birds, to the worm and the soil, to
the Fool who would be King, to the cycles of nature, to the
potter and the fired earth, to the weavers at their looms, to
colour unrestrained, to the grace of the dancer's wrist, to
the student in us all, to the great teachers down through
time, to the stone carvers, to the invisible who toil behind
the scenes, to the creators, to the appreciative audience,
to the sharing of gifts, to the unmentioned and the
forgotten, to ourselves in the mirror, to love and to
wisdom... We place this moment in our minds and will
remember it forever as a plus to tomorrow. Let's celebrate!

Celebrating the NOW
There was a time when we used to celebrate the day.
Celebration resided In the prayers at dawn, in the
rangoli at the doorstep, in the foods made for the
deities that resided in our temples, in the clothes we
wore, in our adornments, in the flower arrangements
in our homes and the scented agarbattis wafting in
the air...but somewhere, perhaps in the mundane
routine and the busyness of life, we appear to have
forgotten that celebration does not need an occasion
or a reason.
Now in its fifth year, Ahmedabad International Arts
Festival explores the idea of celebration in myriad
ways this year.
Join us in celebrating the city, its culture and its
creativity. We bring you a bouquet of celebratory
events across the city, in galleries and auditoriums, in
buildings and streets, in images and rhythms...
Lets celebrate this moment. Lets celebrate the
present, the now.
