DearAlmostS Grader,
We have learned a lot together this year. In order to keep your reading skills
sharp, 1 am asking you to complete this reading assignment over the
summer.
1. You are to read the book Jake and Lily by Jerry Spinelli.
2. When you finish reading, select the 4 chapters that you enjoyed the most.
You will then write a summary, on loose leaf, 5-7 sentencelong, of each
chapter. Each summary should include the Chapter number, and an
illustration of the chapter. Each chapter should be written separately.
3. After the summaries of the chapters are completed, you are going to turn
your attention to the entire book.
4. You are to write your opinion of the book. This should also be 5-7
sentences and include why you liked or disliked the book. You need to give
your reasons why based in details from the text.
5. Finally, make a cover for the journal including the title of the book, an
illustration, and your name in the bottom right corner.
All work can either be handwritten in your best cursive writing, or typed in
Times New Roman, 12 font and double-spaced.
1 hope you enjoy your summer.
God bless you and your families,
Mrs. Annette Looby
