TMS-1000R Triple Modular Redundancy for Gas Turbine Control Systems System Overview: The TMS Series™ 1000 Triple Modular Redundant Turbine Control System (TMS-1000R) is a digital control system designed to provide maximum safety and system availability for the Gas Turbine train while maintaining the original system TMR functionality. TTS utilizes Rockwell Automation/ICS Triplex Trusted™ TMR platform, which offers the user advanced fault tolerance and fail-safe features, along with high-speed and high-performance. The processors perform all of the sequencing, fuel control and protection that is necessary for proper gas turbine operation. TMS-1000R is a replacement for and TMR control system such as GE MKIV, V and VI systems as well as an upgrade to the safety of any other OEM gas turbine control system. With combined Hardware Implemented Fault Tolerance (HIFT) and TMR technology, the Trusted™ platform offers users the following key capabilities: A Safety Integrity Level of 3 (SIL3) and always fault tolerant Stable, predictable operation High capacity and high speed Easy to use and maintain The TMS-1000R system is available for use on all Turbo Machinery Control (TMC) – compressor and gas turbine control – and is intended to replace legacy TMR control systems. System Architecture: The three Trusted™ processor design use a majority voting process (2oo3) to identify the source of a fault. Random hardware failures will cause one of the three control ‘slices’ to react differently to the others. This discrepancy will be captured and reported by the voting system. The TMS-1000R system will always react immediately to contain system faults, helping to insure it meets the user’s safety integrity requirements. The TMS-1000R system is a highly compact solution, able to accommodate up to 240 TMR I/O channels in a single chassis. In addition, the system can include a spare processor, dual Ethernet modules and multiplserial communications connections. The system can be configured utilizing a companion slot arrangement for online hot swapping of modules, as well as utilizing a single slotas a spare for any of the I/O modules. Using the single slot configuration, the system footprint can be reduced. Up to 27 expander chassis can be added to the system, each capable of housing up to twelve I/O modules. The TMS-1000R system offers a wide range of dedicated I/O modules, both for analog and digital signals, all with a 1ms SOE resolution. The system can be powered directly from a single or dual conditioned 24Vdc power supply. The hardware voting technology has major benefits, including: High test coverage of potential faults Tolerance to multiple failures No restrictions on time-to-repair Accurate fault identification Reduced operating system size and complexity Network Configuration: The TMS-1000R system uses Ethernet and TCP/IP communications for interfacing with the TMS-1000-HMI (Human Machine Interface) graphics application. The TMS-1000R system can also host Distributed Control Systems (DCS), TUV-certified peer-to-peer links and uses OPC to give drag-and-drop connectivity to any OPC client with network redundancy managed by the OPC server software. All TMS- 1000R systems can be synchronized to any Inter-range Instrumentation Group (IRIG-B) time source for site wide synchronization of all events. The Trusted IEC61131 Toolset allows for up to 250 individual programs per project using any of the five specified languages – Ladder Diagram, Functional Block Diagram, Structured Text, Sequential Function Chart and Instruction List. Offline simulation, online debug and a graphical interface provide simple and appropriate tools for configuration, verification and maintenance of the application logic.
