TMA SoCal Letter from the President
Wow, time is flying! It is hard to believe it is the end of the first quarter of 2019. I am so proud to be thePresident of TMA SoCal. Our engaged and diverse Board has been working hard this quarter to makeour chapter stronger, bigger and more dynamic. The membership base has continued to diversify, tothe benefit of all TMA members. With many industry leaders as TMA members and a membershipbase consisting of private equity firms, financial advisors, lenders, lawyers, accountants, and everyother type of professional that works in restructuring, the networking opportunities are endless. TMAGlobal's new leadership under CEO Scott Stuart and President Jeffrey Hampton has committed toassisting our members expand their networking nationally and internationally.
We are working on adding new and innovative programming this year and next to expand our reach tomembers outside LA County and to provide members with a more personal platform to networkamongst colleagues. We will provide more information as our efforts progress. Our dynamic ProgramChairs, Eric Goldberg and Danny Levene, put on a fantastic first event on January 16 with anenlightening and well-received presentation by Jerry Nickelsburg, Director of the UCLA AndersonForecast and Adjunct Professor of Economics. On March 18, TMA NOW and IWIRC jointly sponsored asold-out educational event on strategies for business development for women in FTI Consulting'sbeautiful downtown Los Angeles offices. Thank you to TMA NOW Committee Co-Chairs, MarianneMortimer and Mary Ann Kaptain.
We start off next quarter with a bang. On April 11th, there is lunch in Orange County at Gibson Dunn'soffice with TMA member, Alex Marinescu, Managing Director and General Manager of Future Fins as
our speaker. On April 18th, there is a fireside chat with The North Face Founder, Hap Klopp, inGreenberg Glusker's beautiful offices in Century City. The Northern California Chapter had Hap speaklast year and it was one of their most well-attended events, so don't miss Hap at the SoCal event onApril 18th. This will be followed on April 30th by a NextGen networking event hosted by NextGen starsSasha Gurvitz, Mike Neumeister and their committee at a new and cool bar called Broxton Brewery inWestwood.
As you can see, this year is off to a strong start. The fact that restructuring business is picking up formany professionals is also a plus. Maybe the perfect storm we have all been waiting for is almosthere. As always, I would love to hear from members about ideas where we can help you make themost of your membership. Stay tuned . . .
