The SHREDNECK is the Ultimate Practice and Warm-up device for guitar & bass players. You should practice on your guitar whenever possible, but when you can not use your guitar, the SHREDNECK is the perfect practice tool. The SHREDNECK is designed to replicate the first seven frets on a normal guitar (electric, acoustic, classical or bass) and is mainly used to warm-up and practice your fingering hand.

Use the SHREDNECK to warm-up before gigs or rehearsal and to practice wherever and whenever a guitar is not convenient. Many SHREDNECK users have and use multiple units (at home, at the office, on the road, in a car, on a train, on a plane, in a hotel room, watching TV, or just about any time you can think of).

You will note that the SHREDNECK has tuners, however, these tuners are not used to tune the SHREDNECK, they allow you to adjust the string tension to accommodate different playing styles or different needs, such as building callouses, working on chords, or replicating the feel of a down-tuned instrument.

This manual will describe the SHREDNECK in detail and explain how it is used. However, note that the DREADNECK, CLASSNECK and BASSNECK models follow similar instructions when compared to an acoustic guitar, classical guitar and bass.

SUPREME Model is virtually identical to the Shredneck but covers the 12-24 frets of a guitar and includes a wide picking area.

DREADNECK is virtually identical to the Shredneck, but with an “acoustic” look and feel to it and is equipped with acoustic strings.

CLASSNECK is also similar but with nylon strings and a fingerpicking area.

BASSNECK is similar to a standard bass with thumb rest wings and a fingerpicking area.

How a SHREDNECK relates to a standard guitar:The SHREDNECK’s playing surface is equal to the first seven frets of a standard elec-tric guitar (see drawing below). The DREADNECK is equal to the first seven frets of a standard acoustic guitar. The BASSNECK is equal to the first seven frets of a bass guitar. The CLASSNECK is equal to the first seven frets of a classical guitar.

How to Hold the SHREDNECK:The bottom of the SHREDNECK’s headstock/body (16) is slightly curved and equipped with a rubber pad (19). Place the headstock/body on the thigh and play chords and run scales like you would on a normal guitar. See photos below:

You may also hold the SHREDNECK with your picking hand as shown in this photo below:

To practice two-handed tapping techniques hold the SHREDNECK as shown in the photo below:

To practice picking hold the SHREDNECK as shown in the two photos below. You can pick scales and chords:

Hold the BASSNECK as shown in the photos below. You can work on fingerpicking and slapping. The “wings” to either side of the fingerpicking route are “thumb rests.”

The CLASSNECK can be held as shown in the photos below. Use the large routed are to work on fingerpicking.

How to string a SHREDNECK:

Run the string through the back of the neck (see point 2). Pull the string all the way through the slot until the ball-end of the string rests in the String Ball-End Slot. String the SHREDNECK like you would a normal guitar.

How to put on TUNER TIPS: The SHREDNECK comes equipped with SHREDNECK LLC’s innovative TUNER TIPS. These rubber tips fit over the tuning posts and covers the end of the strings to facilitate holding the neck with your picking hand. There is a small slot in the TUNER TIP where the string will fit through. To install, cut the excess string off as close to the tuning post as possible and then press the TUNER TIP over the tuning post so that the top of the TUNER TIP is level with the top of the tuning post (you may have to “loosen” the strings slightly to do this). After all TUNER TIPS are installed retighten the strings to the desired tension.

Note: Depending on your post height TUNER TIPS can easily be cutdown to fit your tuners. TUNER TIPS can also be used on your regular guitar as well!

About the inventor Jimi Bell:

Jimi Bell is a stunning guitarist with skill rarely seen these days. Having played guitar all his life, Jimi is well versed in many different playing styles and technique.

For years Jimi was searching for a way to warm-up on the way to and at gigs. The SHRED-NECK is a compilation of years of research and trial and error into a realistic warm-up and practice tool. Jimi says “The best thing about the SHREDNECK is that it has real strings. The tuners on the headstock/body are not to tune the SHREDNECK, they are to adjust the tension of the strings to accommodate different playing situations. I often adjust the tension of the strings to achieve different goals. Sometimes I have the strings tight to do lightning speed runs. Other times, I have the strings loose and then pull on the E and B strings to maintain calluses on my fingertips. The SHREDNECK has really helped me improve my speed and dexterity. Now I can play anytime, anywhere!

The SHREDNECK also comes with a gig bag to protect your SHREDNECK when traveling.
