PPGC – Programa de Pós-Graduação em Computação
Created in 1972, the PPGC is among the first graduate programs in Computer Science in Brazil
Since 2007 PPGC has been evaluated with a score of 6 (maximum is 7) by CAPES, the Brazilian official higher education funding and evaluation body

PPGC – Infrastructure
PPGC provides its full-time MSc and PhD students an outstanding infrastructure for in class and research activities, including a personal workstation at the respective research lab
The infrastructure includes a 20 Gbps link to the Internet, campus full wireless coverage and access to ACM, IEEE, Springer and other digital libraries (through CAPES Portal)
All classrooms are fitted with air conditioning and multimedia equipment
There are rooms for video conferencing, a conference center with auditoriums, a departmental library with study rooms and access to more than 23,000 works
PPGC – Infrastructure
Two types of applications, for residents and for non-residents, each with its own calendar
In both cases the selection process is based on the analysis of curriculum vitae, letters of recommendation, and the availability of supervisors in the intended research areas
The regular courses start usually in March

PPGC – MSc Program
Those who wish to apply for scholarships offered by Brazilian government agencies must respect the specific deadlines for submitting their applications
The selection process is based on the analysis of a research proposal, curriculum vitae, recommendation letters, and also in the result of an interview with the candidate (possibly by videoconference)
The enrolment in the PhD Program occurs in March and August
