SUMMER READING ASSIGNMENT GRADE 1
Students entering Grade 1 in the fall are required to read a total of 10 books. Children may read these books themselves if they have the ability to do so or their parents may read the books to them. Read Book 1: 1st Grade REQUIRED BOOK
Everyone will read Leo the Late Bloomer by Robert Kraus. This is a mandatory book.
Do Book Report & Worksheet:
Students are required to draw a picture demonstrating their understanding of the story. Also, complete the “L is for Lion” workhseet.
Read 9 additional books (Books #2 - #10):
Students can then choose 9 other books from the list of suggested titles for Grade 1.
Fill out Book Log:
Students are required to keep a log of the 10 books they have read. A form for this purpose is attached. Students will list the author and title of each of the books they read. A parent signature is required acknowledging that the student has read each of the books listed.
Do 2nd Book Report:
Students are to choose one of books #2 - #10 and draw another picture demonstrating their understanding of the story. Drawings for any additional books are optional. Copy the picture form as necessary.
