Take inspiration from the self-sufficiency, resilience and respect for nature of early tribes in order to create an aesthetic that is raw, untamed and primitive. Make space to acknowledge a glamorous twist, which is created by disrupting a primal living style with manmade materials, new manufacturing methods and technologies.

Influential architectural projects have a stacked-up structural approach, which in turn inspire product shapes that appear heavy and bold – think rock and pebble pile constructions, as well as drum shapes and fractured forms.

Textures are deep and authentic, in contrast to the perfect smoothness of modern technology. Surfaces appear as though they have been exposed to the elements –sun-faded, gritty, oxidized, heat scorched, cracked and flaking.

Metal, wood, stone and ceramics are combined and blocked together to create mash-ups that convey a sense of urgency, dynamism and brutal beauty. For pattern zoom in on the landscape – think bark, geological sediment layers and dappled light effects, as well as batik wax resists, woodblock printing, bleeding & bleaching techniques contrasted against tessellated and fragmented geometrics.

Harmony is achieved via the color palette which is presented in solid mono blocks, layered ombrés and fractal forms. Naturally intense cochineal, rich earth reds and complex teal tones enrich desert hues, whilst bronze, brass and copper deliver luxury and rusticity in equal measure.

NEW TREND: RE.CONSTRUCTRe.Construct has strong scientific and technological influences, whilst addressing the desire to simplify our complicated and fast-paced modern lifestyles. Clarity, order and control are promoted via visually quiet spaces, counteracting the disorder and lack of control many people feel due to information overload and an uncertain economy. Re.Construct is well made, stylish and functional - the superfluous has been edited out and only what is required remains, creating a calm and reassuring sense of wellbeing and sanctuary. The look is restrained, utilitarian yet quietly elegant with an unspoken, underlying luxury. It projects a soothing simplicity, appearing solid, durable and dependable – this is New Minimalism.

Patterns are subtle, complex yet controlled with a logical and predictable structure that allows the eye to relax. North African and Middle Eastern design aesthetics gracefully merge through geometric patterns.

Designers are inspired by sleek architectural forms and simple lines. There is a pleasing contrast between solid and empty shapes and spaces as the void of sculpted emptiness is explored through colored blown glass, transparent fabrics and oxygenated forms. Organic structure is introduced through honeycomb constructions and lattice work.
