Listening:
Listen until the other person completes his
sentence.
Do not interrupt when some one is talking
Respect others opinion - Never condemn in
strong words
Listen with patience and with interest
Be open minded while listening
Listen twice as much as you talk - God has
given two ears and one mouth:-)
Reading:
Which books to read Informative,
inspiring, thought provoking, humorous
Make notes of what you read, tell the
summary to friends
Recollect what you read
Study with other people
Fast reading and understanding what you
read
Reading again and again
Writing:
Daily activities, special experiences
Summary of the reading
Expenses
Any thought on that day
Addresses, phone numbers, statistics of the
work and the work area
Report on the events Plans for programs
Recognise Good:
Constantly look out for good qualities in
people and appreciate them
Talk about good qualities of one karyakarta
in front of others
When you go for sampark with young
karyakartas, on the way back, talk about
some of the good things in that house. * On different occasions, ask karyakartas -
"What are the good things you saw in that
event/person?"
Qualities:
Respect for elders
Closeness with colleagues
Affection for youngsters
Humility - "No one is smaller than me"
Follow instructions from senior karyakartas
Time consciousness
Hard working, try new experiments
Sense of humour. Tolerance for other's mistakes
Sacrificing personal comforts.
Be receptive to others ideas.
Speech:
Talk little
Do not react. Think and answer
Be polite - As far as possible, give hint to
correct rather than telling on the face
Words should carry weight
Words should be inspiring
Speech should not hurt anyone
It should be like suggestions and requestsrather than order and instructions
Be aware of what to say, how much to say,
where to say, and how to say - This is
wisdom
When you are agitated, the mind does not
function well, and therefore one should
avoid speaking.
When others are agitated, then also keep
quiet.
Pronunciation should be correct
Words should bind the people.
Your words should make you a likeable
person by all.

Recognize their interest and aptitude
Visiting without any work (casual)
Liberal:
Liberal - in thinking, in words, in conduct
When inconvenience is caused to me byothers, forgive
When others make mistakes, first thought
should be "it could be an unconscious
mistake"
Be tolerant, when others talk about you
Planning:
Pre plan, plan completely
Decide the targets and purpose Activities and means to achieve that,
people and other resources needed
Schedule sub items, co-ordination between
groups, review and follow up
Decisions:
Independently after considering all facets
Immediately informing concerned
karyakartas about the decision.
All should follow decisions made
collectively with discussion.
Thinking:
Positive See what is there and not what is
not there.
I'm capable. I'm not weak
On every occasion, think, "What did I
learn?"
There are people to tell about dos anddonts. I'll' think about myself.
When we are hurt by some one, our
thinking should be "How he,/she should
behave is not in my hands, but how I
should take it is in my
hands". Think "What I can do"
When some one has misunderstood me,
don't think "It's his problem". How I should
behave, so that there is no scope for others
to misunderstand.
"This is his mistake". Instead of starting
our thinking that way start thinking with
"May be it was my mistake"
No investigation. Trust the karyakarta's
words.
"They" were responsible for success. "I"
was responsible for failure.
Do not add any intentions to the acts and
words of other karyakartas. Have the

confidence that they are working with good
intentions.
Trust is life. Mistrust is death in
organization.
Needs of others come first .
Rules are for me and not for others.
"jahaan kaam, vahan ham"
Impossible? We'll do it in no time.
Miracles might take a little longer.
I'll do it later, tomorrow. NO. Today and
right now.
* I'm here to solve society's problems and
not to complain
HeIp others Grow:
Identify people, bind them
Identify talents and skills. Encourage them.
Give small tasks initially
Make sure they succeed in whateverassignments they take
When they make mistakes, be considerate
Correcting is not exposing
Say good things in front of everyone but
find the right place and time to point out
mistakes .
Work with younger karyakartas, so that
they learn
Give details of work in advance and
remind once in a while
Make sure others don't get disappointed
and discouraged Enquire about personal problems
When in trouble, help them whole
heartedly
Increase the idealism and spirit of sacrifice
Cut down mean thinking and develop
broad & higher thinking
Bring them in contact with senior
karyakartas
Fulfil their short comings
Support their creative thinking and desires
to achieve
Not individualistic, collective work
Signs of ego (External symbols):
In speech repeated occurence of " I ,
"Me", "My"
Anger, short temper, becoming sad and
depressed Getting "insulted"
"I was not consulted", "I was not told, "I
was ignored" "I was not recognized"Complaining and getting depressed on
these points.
When the mistake is pointed out., not
admitting it and getting defensive
Praising oneself and finding fault with
others
Not interested in doing 'small' work
Taking light about decisions taken in
Baitak Not following the instructions
Behaving irresponsibly
Always defending one's stand on all issues,
Advising/Ordering every one, everywhere
Not being polite with elders
Not forgetting he bitter experiences
Not tolerating praise for others
Problems:
Failure only means "delay" and not
"defeat"
One strong will is enough to face 100
hurdles
Do not mix issues and feelings
Retreat or becoming inactive is no solution.
Conclusion:
Others follow our foot steps and not words
Concern for all, attachment to none
Ahead of every one in everything, but only
one step
Importance to small things
Not history readers or writers, but history

Thinking should be centered around the
work.
Ship is safe at the shore. But , its purpose is
not served
The secret of winning is the courage to face
failures
Difficulties and failures will bring out the
best in us
We can tell stories tomorrow, only when
we go through difficulties today
Every problem will have many solutions
We should keep trying until we find the
right solution,
Yes. Problems are there in society. That's
why we became Sangh karyakartas
I'm here to solve the problem. I should not
become problem
Discuss about the solution and not broodover the problem
"I don't know. Do whatever you want to
do" will only solve my problem and will
not help the work.
When confused, keep one step forward;
you will see the second step, make that
move. Only then you will see the third step.
When failed, think of success in the past.
When succeeded think of future plans
To make mistake is human. But do not
repeat the mistakes

Do not give opinions, give facts
Do not throw cold water on young
karyakarta's ideas by your decisions
Anyone can live by working from 10 to 5.
Achievement is possible only by working 5
to 10
If I can change myself as I wish, then only
I can change others also as per my wish
There is no better lesson than being with
younger workers
Leader's speed is the team's speed
Let's be "self inspired"
Delegate, but don't forget
Make others also "think" about the work.
When people praise, remember it's the
organization behind me, they are praising.
Otherwise it's like a donkey carrying idolsin procession.
Leadership is like a moving thread. You
can only pull from front. You cannot push
from back.
