Putting in the date can be useful when looking back in years to come. This is usually situated to the top left below your address.

As an introduction, you can simply write the name, ‘Dear’ is a little more formal. You could also use ’To‘

Sign off your letter in a way that is appropriate to you. Lots of love, best wishes, from.

In formal letter writing if you know the person you are writing to you would use ‘Yours sincerely’ and ‘Yours faithfully’ for the people you don’t.

In the main letter, say whatever you like. You could tell the recipient how you are feeling, ask some questions or share a recipe or poem... the list is endless
