Did you know6GbpsSAS2.0technologyhasbeenintroducedtoaddressdataoff-loadbottlenecksinthedirect-accessstorageenvironment.Thisnewthroughputdoublesthetransferrateofthepreviousgeneration.SAS2.0isdesignedforbackwardcompatibilitywith3GbpsSASaswellaswith3GbpsSATAharddrives.
Regardlessofthedrivespeed,6GbpsServeRAIDadapterswilldeliversignificantperformanceimprovementsinbothreadandwriteapplicationsascomparedwiththeir3Gbpspredecessors.
Self-encryptingdrivesarebasedonanewtechnologythathelpspreventdatafrombeingaccessedwithoutauthorization.ThesedrivesadheretotheTrustedComputingGroup(TCG)EnterpriseSecuritySubsystemClassspecificationandareNationalSecurityAgencyqualifiedtoprovidegovernment-gradeencryption.Withself-encryptingdrives,ifadriveisremovedfromitsstoragesystemortheserveritishousedin,thedataonthatdriveisencryptedanduselesstoanyonewhoattemptstoaccessitwithouttheappropriatesecurityauthorization.

SafeStorelocalkeymanagementprovidesthenecessarymanagementandprotectionofSEDsusingasimplepassphrase,securitykeyidentifier,andsecuritykeyfilethatcanbesetandappliedtoallSEDsassignedtoaServeRAIDadapter.ThisremovesthecomplexityofmanagingeachSEDsuniqueencryptionkeyandessentiallyrelievestheadministratorfrommostofthedailytasksofsecuringdata.
