    MontageDescription:

An inspirational montage blending together two or more images, and use of typography

    Date:February 14th, 2013

    Course/Instructor:Comm. 130Eric Lybbert

    Program(s)/Tools:Adobe PhotoShop

Objectives:Learn to manage Photoshop layersLearn to blend images together smoothly, using masksUse filters

    Apply appropriate typography

Process:I started off by taking the picture of the castle and changing the image so that it would be thecorrect proportions to the specifications. Then I took the picture of Ganon and placed himonto the right side of the picture and I sharpened the image and applied a charcoal filter to theeye so that they would have a red color, and I touched it up with the brush. Then I added agradual blend to the image so that he appeared more ominous in the background and as if he

was behind the house, and so that the clouds looked like they are covering him. Then I addedthe picture of Link and I made him smaller because the image was a little too big. I then addeda diffused glow to the image and I also make the green of his suit a little darker. I then selectedthe sword and added a filter to sharpen that portion of the image. I then added the text atthe bottom right corner and I made it white in order to have more contrast. I gave it a littleheading by selecting the word Hero and making it a bigger font size.

BrochureDescription:at two sided (duplex) folding brochure

    Date:March 30th, 2013

    Course/Instructor:Comm. 130Eric Lybbert

    Program(s)/Tools:Adobe PhotoShop, Adobe InDesign

Objectives:Set up and align a two-sided, folded document.Create an original company logo and use it in a brochure.Incorporate quality images.

Process:I started this project by coming up with the basic idea that I wanted to convey, so that it would

be easier to actually make and so that I could know what images to look for. I then went into

InDesign so that I could come up with a layout so that I could fold it right when the time

would come. I then went to Google for images that I thought would be cool, and I took these

images and placed them how I wanted into the Brochure. I then took my logo from illustrator

that I had used for a previous project and I placed it into the InDesign and then I got the idea

to combine the logo with the picture of the camera man so I placed both images into photo

shop and combined them using a process of adding layers and masks. I then added the text

and prepared it so that it was in a line space paragraph style. I than printed it out and cut it sothat the images would bleed off the paper and I cut it and I then folded it.

LogosDescription:three logo variations for the same company

    Date:February 21st, 2013

    Course/Instructor:Comm. 130Eric Lybbert

    Program(s)/Tools:Adobe Ilustrator

Objectives:Create a variety of logos to fit a company or personal image.Use the basic tools of Illustrator.

Process:I started the project by brainstorming ideas with some friends and I came up with the basic

idea for each logo. I grabbed a cool pirate font from the website dafont. I then started on thetop logo and I made it black and then I took the dot of the I and I used the pen tool to add askull. I then keep the i white to apply contrast so that it would be noticed. I then changed the

V to the color gray and added a yellow line drawn by the pen tool to make it have a cartoonyelectricity look.

The middle logo I spent a lot of time using the pen tool and I combined the antenna with thelighter brown box representing the television. Then I added the Pirate Regular text and madethe screen look like a pirate flag.

The bottom Logo I used the PirateBay text again but I place TV on top of the Pirate text and Iwarped the text so that I would look like a flag and I added brown color to make it look like aboat. I then used the pen text to create a wave on the bottom of the text.

Business CardDescription:Matching Letterhead and Business Card designed using a personally created logo

    Date:February 28th, 2013

    Course/Instructor:Comm. 130Eric Lybbert

    Program(s)/Tools:Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign

Objectives:Create a new logo to fit a company or personal image.Design consistent layouts for a business card and letterhead.Use the basic tools of Illustrator & InDesign.

Process:I started off this project by designing the logo in illustrator, and after I got the boat how I

wanted it, I that created a text box which states TVpirate, and from the I used the pen tool to

create a sail, I then Created smaller white boxes to give it a more feel of film, I then created

another document and I designed the business cards. I wanted it to have a front and back and

I wanted it to have a pirate theme. On the back of the card, I changed the color to a darker

golden color so that it resembled a treasure map, I then used the pen tool to create a line that

goes from the logo to a X. I then changed the line into a dotted line.

Then I wanted to create a simple backside but creative as well. So I first add the contact info at

the bottom, and then I give it an ocean theme, so I created the waves using the pen tool, and Icreated the anchor and the fish.

    Objectives:Learn basic photography skills.

Use a digital camera to take a quality image, then download it.Size and crop the image.Adjust image brightness, contrast, hue and saturation levels.Use a selection tool to isolate a portion of the image.

Process:I started off by taking several photos and determining which would best be applicable in the

project. I then upload the photo into Photoshop and I changed the overall size and resolution

of the image, then I proceeded to crop it so that it would be a 6x6 image. I then looked at

the photo and decided what objects that I wanted to stand out. I then selected the image and

took the color out and with each selected image I went and reapplied color and changed the

brightness and overall contrast of each image so that it better fit into the overall image, so that it

looked more natural. Then I applied the Diffuse Glow filter and then changed how it effectedthe image until I achieved an effect that I felt was very good.

FlierDescription:Black and white promitional flier to promote a graduate leadership conference

    Date:January 25th, 2013

    Course/Instructor:Comm. 130Eric Lybbert

    Program(s)/Tools:Adobe PhotoShop

Objectives:Apply the design principles and use appropriate typography.Incorporate basic InDesign skills to improve basic flier layout.Retrieve image and logo from links on this page.Create a project folder with image, logo and InDesign document to keep links intact.

Process:I started out by creating some sketches to determine how I wanted to my layout to look. I

then used Adobe InDesign to bring my idea to life and see what changes I needed to make

in order to give it a better look. I choose the image of the hats because it gives off a feeling of

accomplishment and I placed it within close proximity with the heading in order to place the

image of graduation and the hats being thrown in the air a link to the leadership conference.

I placed the question in a bigger font and darker text so that you would like the question with

the date, time and place you find at the bottom so that you would think that you could find an

    answer at this place

    Event AdDescription:

A colorful full-bleed event ad to promote a fundrasier using only Microsoft Word and ascanner

    Date:February 1st, 2013

    Course/Instructor:Comm. 130Eric Lybbert

    Program(s)/Tools:Microsoft Word

Objectives:Find, scan and import a high-quality image.Create a full-bleed designUse text boxes for layout in Word.Insert and edit images in Word.

Process:Well to start off I scanned the images that I found on to the computer, then I transferred

them on to paint so that I could easily overlap the two to give off a better vibe. With that I

put the image into word and then I took out the unwanted background so that I could add

background color to the overall image. Then I added two blue boxes at the top and the bottom

so that it framed to overall ad and give it a nice look. I then added the text boxes on the side so

that I could place the information on the side, then I made sure that everything was aligned so

that there wasnt any unwanted widows or orphans. Then I added the lighter blue background

color for contrast so that the cake picture was able to stand out more.
