PRAYERS
vlrks ek ln~xe;A Asato maa sadgamaya
relks ek T;ksfrxZe;A Tamaso maa jyotirgamaya,
e`R;ksekZ ve`ra xe;A Mrutyormaa Amrutam gamaya!
Å¡ 'kkfUr% 'kkfUr% 'kkfUr%A Om Shaantih! Shaantih! Shaantih!
Lead me from untruth to truth,
Lead me from darkness to light,
Lead me from death to immortality.
This prayer contains the three steps which all have to tread :
1. Satya or truth is that which is permanent. We must live our lives based
upon Truth. The world is impermanent and therefore it is called Asatya,
meaning ‘changing’. So one has to give up thinking that the world we
see around us is the whole Truth and is permanent.
2. Darkness signifies ignorance. Jyoti is the Light of Wisdom. One has to
get rid of ignorance and with the Light of Wisdom, one has to know that
our Real Self is the unchanging Atma within us.
3. Just as the waves finally merge into the ocean, we who are as waves of
the Divine, pray that we fulfil the goal of our life and merge into the
Ocean of immortality.

English translation as done by the poet :
Thou art the ruler of the minds of all people, Dispenser of
India's destiny,
Thy name rouses the hearts of Punjab, Sindh, Gujarat &
Maratha, of the Dravida and Orissa and Bengal,
It echoes in the hills of the Vindhyas and
Himalayas, mingles in the music of Jamuna and Ganges,
And is chanted by the waves of the Indian Sea. They pray for
thy blessing and sing thy praise,
The saving of all people waits in thy hands,
Thou dispenser of India's destiny,
Victory, Victory, Victory to thee.
Rabindranath Tagore

PRAYER BEFORE CLASS
Dear God, I am about to study. Enlighten my mind and strengthen my memory.
There are some lessons that may be difficult or some things that I may not
understand. Please help me to like and learn all of those. Thank you, dear Lord.
PRAYER AFTER CLASS
Dear God, We thank you for everything, that you have given us today. Forgive
us, if we have committed any mistakes, shirked our responsibilities, hurt
anyone or disobeyed our elders. Give us the courage to always stand, for what
is right and follow the path of righteousness. Help me to become a better
person tomorrow. Amen.

STUDIES AND CURRICULUM
The medium of instruction is English. However Hindi being the
National language, has a vital role in the curriculum and is
taught daily in all the standards. The intellectual education at
J.H.T.S is liberal and universal but at the same time it is Indian
and firmly rooted in Indian History and tradition, and according
to the suggestions made by the Indian Education Commission.
The curriculum, therefore embraces, Value Education, English
Language and Literature, Hindi Language and Literature,
Mathematics. Environmental Studies, Physics, Chemistry,
Biology, Social Studies, History, Geography, Computer Science,

and Socially Useful Productive Work (SUPW), Yoga, Singing &
Dance for Stds. I - V. We have provision for Science & Commerce
streams in Std. IX and Arts, Commerce & Science streams in
the +2 classes.
Since education at J.H.T.S is imparted in English, a high
standard of English is required for succeeding in the I.C.S.E. and
I.S.C. examinations. The use of English in the school campus
is compulsory.
Regular attendance, alertness in class, performance of regular
class work and revision, are sufficient to make progress. Parents
can make the class teaching even more valuable, if they speak in
correct English and Hindi to their wards at home, for the
students to make progress.
In this connection, it is to be noted, that private tuition is
regarded as unnecessary. It encourages students to be
inattentive in class. No student is allowed to go to a teacher of
J.H.T.S. for tuitions.

Dear Students,
Here are a few things which will help remain cool while you prepare for and answer your exams.
Do's And Don'ts during Exams
Do's
Set out a study plan and stick to it. Organise the things you want to do and fix your time table according to it.
Set achievable goals for yourself. Once you've set your goal, work hard towards achieving it.
Be confident about your preparation. Becoming nervous makes you forget things.
Be Positive. Tell yourself that you have studied and that you know your lessons.
Be Thorough in your revision of chapters. Don't depend merely on the guide books.
Highlight/ Jot down points you would like to go through again just before exams. It is not possible to revise the full portion again.
Try to recollect instructions given by teachers in the class. It will help you tackle the questions properly.
Seek help if needed. Talk to your teachers and parents for guidance in case you need it.
Take proper rest. Take a 10 min break after every 50 min of sincere studies. It will refresh you and help you concentrate.
Remember to eat healthy and sleep well during exams. Your body needs energy and rest to perform according to your expectations.
Don'ts
Don't study in a place with distractions. Spend quality time with your books.
Don't pile up revision for the last minute. Study regularly.
Don't go overboard with your studies. Reaching your mind beyond the saturation point can be harmful.
Don't do selective study. Avoid leaving out chapters. It may create a setback.
Don't compare yourself with others. Device your own strategy and prepare accordingly.
Don't talk to peers having a negative attitude. They may panic you.
Don't become nervous or panic. If you've studied properly, just relax. You'll be able to answer your papers well.
Don't let your performance in one paper effect the next one. Be consistent and answer each paper the best way you can.
Don't waste time in gossiping with friends. That will create a distraction.
Don't enter the examination hall on empty stomach or feeling tired. Not eating properly or staying up late the night before the exams is not a good idea.
