    Neha: I started after my graduation. I think that time is ideal.

    Question: How did you start preparation of the IAS Examination?

    Neha: I took the guidance of my seniors who had cleared the exam and boughtbasic books for understanding.

    Question: What were your strategies for the lengthy syllabus of General Studiesfor both Prelims and Mains?

    Neha: Preparation by planning and regular revision.

    Question: How did you come to know that which sources of reading materials arestandard? Please give list of books, magazines and papers.

    Neha: By guidance of seniors and papers the Hindu, Indian Express. Magazines-Chronicle.

    Question: Tell us something about preparation of essay paper.

    Neha: The multidimensional analysis of the theme of topic done in simplelanguage.

    Question: How did you manage your time in both prelims and mains examination?

    Neha: The entire preparation is inter related.

    Question: Which is the most difficult part of this examination and why? What wasyour strategy to tackle this difficult part?

    Neha: I found prelims to be most dicey of all. This is because of its exhaustivesyllabus. I made notes of important topics for this.

    Question: Did you integrate your Prelims and Mains or was it separate?

    Neha: It was all integrated.

    Question: Did you prepare notes? How helpful are the notes? What is your adviceon notes-making?

    Neha: I prepared notes of important topics and topics which were confusing toremember. Self made notes are best for revision.

    Question: What are your suggestions for fresher who want to join coachinginstitutes for preparation?

    Neha: Joining an institute can certainly give a direction to the fresher but theseshould not be sole governing factors for preparation.

    Question: What was your style of writing in the exam? How was it distinct fromthe general writing style? How did you develop this writing style?

    Neha: Mine style of writing was simple and comprehensive. I had practicedanswer writing before the exam.

    Question: Civil services Exam process is quite strenuous. It requires long hours ofconstant study. How did you maintain your tempo and what did you do to breakthe monotony of preparation?

    Neha: I read topics with interest than as a compulsion. I used to discuss topicswith friends.

    Question: The trend suggests that professionals are more successful in this exam.

    Neha: The exam is turning out to be level playing field for all candidates by itsdiverse nature.

    Question: What should be the best strategy to tackle negative marking?

    Neha: One should answer question one is sure about or largely sure about.

    Question: How did you prepare for interview?

    Neha: The personality is developed over years, I tried answering questions basedon logic and truth.

    Question: Which types of questions were asked in interview? Did you answer all?

    Neha: I was asked questions from health care sector, international organisations,national reforms etc. I answered 70-80% of questions.

    Question: Was there any specific area they emphasized upon?

    Neha: Most questions were centered around health problems.

    Question: Before getting down to actual preparation, what kind of reading shouldone do to prepare ones suitability for this exam? What is the outside one shoulddo?

    Neha: One should be aware of general happenings around him. The resource forthe same can be internet, television, newspaper, books etc.

    Question: Whom would you credit your success?

    Neha: The blessings of Almighty, confidence of my parents, support of brother andguidance of friends and teachers.

    Question: What is your advice to the freshers who are going to appear in thisexam?

    Neha: It is self confidence and rational thought process that proves to be mostuseful.

    Question: What is your advice to the candidates who have failed in this exam?

    Neha: The grooming provided by the exam preparation makes you eligible fornumerous other opportunities in life.

    Question: Had you thought of another alternative apart from the Civil services?

    Neha: I am a doctor and would have continued in the same profession.

    Question: Are you satisfied with the current pattern of exam? If not, what areyour suggestions?

    Neha: The current pattern of exam is satisfactory. The time gap between examand result should be lessened if possible.

    Question: Do you think Civil Services exam is true test of a candidate?

    Neha: Civil service is an exam that tests candidates ability and personality.Besides luck also plays an important role.Like Comment Share Yesterday
