The Cameron Time Saver Wellhead System

is a conventional two-string wellhead system with

specialized features to enhance safety and reduce instal-

lation times. This system is ideally suited for drilling out

and running the surface and production casing strings

with a conventional drilling rig, then subsequently

fracturing the well and completing it with a smaller

completion and workover unit.

System Design Features

Safety The need for hammer wrenches for BOP and

tubing spool nipple up is eliminated with the use of a

simple union nut, requiring fewer personnel and less

time spent under the rig floor. What used to be a two-

man operation requiring two hours or more can be

accomplished in minutes with a single person using a

purpose-built spanner wrench. Another safety

enhancing feature is the special Time Saver frac

mandrel. This tool is used to isolate the tubing spool

outlets and top flange during well stimulation. Using

this piece of equipment in conjunction with a high

pressure frac tree, frac pressures of up to 10,000 psi

can be safely achieved in a 3000 or 5000 psi wellhead.

rotary table. Once landed, casing can then be cemented

and the running package retrieved, allowing rig opera-

tions to continue without waiting on cement. This saves

time when compared to conventional flanged wellheads

which often require several hours of waiting on cement

prior to installation of the casing head, which then must

be welded requiring more non-productive rig time.

In addition, the casing head is sized to allow

clearance for a 1.0” line to be run in the event that

remedial cementing at the surface is required. An

optional mandrel casing hanger is available for the

production casing. This hanger eliminates the need

to wait on cement and nipple down the BOP prior to

hanging off the pipe in the casing head. A retrievable

packoff is used to isolate the annulus after the hanger

has been run.

Versatility The Time Saver wellhead is available in

3000, 5000 and 10,000 psi working pressures,

and uses standard bowl preps for casing and

tubing hangers. The wellhead may be used

with either slip-type or mandrel type casing

hangers. The mandrel hanger is fluted which

allows for taking cement returns through the BOP stack

rather than through the casing head outlets, making this

one of the most versatile wellheads while saving time.

Tubing Spool Available with a 7-1/16”3000 psi or 5000 psi flanged top or a 4-1/16” 10,000 psi flanged top. Bottompreparation is available in sizes from 4-1/2” up to 7” casing. Outlets arethreaded or studded depending uponoperator preference.

Frac Mandrel The frac mandrel israted to 10,000 psi and can bepre-installed in the tubing spoolor on the frac tree, saving timeonce out in the field.

Casing Head Available with 5000 psi rating and a standard 11” Cameron IC-2 bowl. Typical bottom preparations are API female threaded connections.

Casing Hangers Standard Cameron IC-2 slip-type hangers are available, or a fluted mandrel hanger with aretrievable pack off may be used.

The Time Saver Wellhead is easily converted from production mode

to frac mode.
