Step 1Step 1Slab PreparationSlab Preparation
Cement slab is poured to create the floor, where the tilt-up panels will be created.

Once the lines have been drawn, workers place brackets to outline where the tilt-up panels outside boundaries, windows and door openings will be.
STEP 4Precise placement of panels
Ensuring the exact placement of the cement forms is critical to the success of the project. The tilt-up concrete panels must be sized and positioned in precisely the right dimensions and location.
STEP 5Assembly of Construction Panels
STEP 6Application of Bond breaker
At least 3 coats of Bond breaker is applied to Ensure total separation of the panel from the slab on erection day.
STEP 7Placing the Reinforcements
Rebar is placed in the completed cement panel forms.
Ready for concrete
With the wood forms securely constructed and the rebar and embeds, inserts in place, the tilt-up concrete panels in the photo above are ready to be poured with concrete.
Step 8 Pouring the Tilt-up Construction Panels
To create each panel, workers pour the cement into the forms in a manner very similar to the way floor slabs are poured.
Once the cement has been poured, workers trowel the panels for a smooth, consistent finish
STEP 9Smoothening the surface
Workers use a variety of equipment, including power trowels, to make sure the panels are level and smooth. These concrete panels will become the exterior walls of the building, necessitating a consistent smoothness or texture on all the panels.

Once the concrete has cured, workers remove the wood forms and brackets to leave the tilt-up panels lined up on the floor slab.

As panel is slowly raised it begins to tilt into the upright position
STEP 11Erection
Workers help to guide a large mobile crane as it lifts a tilt-up concrete panel into place.
STEP 12Attachment of Braces
Once the cement panel is set in place, the crew attaches the braces to the slab to keep the panel standing until it is attached to the other tilt-up panels and the roofing system.
Crosschecking
Panel is then shimmed and leveled to the strictest of tolerances.

Depending on design, the base of the panels are connected to the footing, plates connecting the panels are welded and the sills are filled with grout.

Panels are ground and patched to ensure a smooth
finish ready for paint.
