Let’s Have Coffee..

André, please tell us a little about yourselfI live in Lauwil – a small village with 330 residents, 8 minutes from Ziefen by car – with my wife and my children (my son Tim, 10 and my daughter Mia, 8½). I grew up with 2 brothers and my sister (Sonja Dubach-Schneider who also works at Tillotts) on a farm in the hills of Lauwil. In my spare time I prefer to be outdoors in nature, more or less actively, I also like to work creatively with wood or relax reading a book or listening to music.

When did you join Tillotts?I joined Tillotts on the 2nd of June, 1997 working full time as an operations electrician. After my first child was born, I reduced my workload at Tillotts to 80%. Since July 2013 I have been working 50%, predominantly as a safety inspector

What is your role within Tillotts? As an operations electrician I was responsible for the maintenance of the electric installations, calibrations in the plant and for the maintenance of the building utilities.

As a safety inspector I am responsible for the development and realization of the safety organization. I identify the risks regarding health and safety at work and together with the heads of the departments I develop the necessary actions. I register remaining risks and observe any accidents occurring. In this way I can identify the needs for training and preventive measures.

I also continue to support the engineering department regarding the maintenance of the scales and the locking system here in Ziefen. Furthermore, I maintain the plant surroundings as a balance for my mental work.

Of what project are you proudest? There is not “the project” I am proud of. There are the many small achievements: When I succeeded in getting a machine to run again or when ideas created at my desk, then really worked in practice.

What will be your next major challenge in Tillotts?Detaching myself from former responsibilities of my previous function.

What was the biggest challenge for you at Tillotts up to now?The change from the “family company”, where everyone knows everybody, where everybody is always very flexible and helpful, where everybody brings his own meat to the barbecue – to a multicultural company with complex structures, language barriers and the distance due to different locations.

The support and the flexibility in our team and in the company enables me to plan my work at the company and at home, as well as my family life and leisure time in an optimal way. I am very thankful for this.

Your own question or what I always wanted to say…

Taking care of our waste and our responsibility for the environmentAs you can imagine, quite a bit of waste accumulates in a production company, even ours. We make sure as little waste as possible accrues and of course that it is disposed of in accordance with the regulations.

“Development of muco-adhesive drug delivery systems by precipitation of chitosan on drug-loaded microparticles”

Conference on Drug Delivery, Reims 2015Poster presentations:

Annual comparison of the waste volumes in Ziefen (kg)

Most of the waste, 12.01 t consists of

cardboard and paper and 6.4 t is household rubbish. These then already account for 45% of the total amount of waste

from Ziefen.

In 2014 a total of 41.819 t of all

kinds of waste were disposed of, 40.45 t of which accumulated

in Ziefen.

We are happy to be able to inform

you that the annual ‘development’ of

waste quantities is negative. Within 5 years it has been reduced by 18%, which makes us

proud!
