Q1 I’d love to have my hair coloured professionally, but my budget is slim. What do I do? Easy! We can tailor colour to your budget, for example adding simple slices of blonde to enhance pieces of your fringe. With colour there are always options to choose from, and any good hairdresser should be able to present these options to you.

Q2 I'm thinking of colouring my hair at home. It seems easy to do but I’ve not done it before. Will it look the same? No please don't. High street bought ‘box’ colours are not tailor made to your own skin type and tone or condition of the hair. It’s seen too often where people have used the wrong colour. In fact there are different chemicals in home colour to professional colour so really for me, it’s a no go in my eyes. Hairdressers are educated, usually continually, to be able to make sure they get it right for you.

Q3 Why can a colour fade so quickly? Using a colour safe shampoo and conditioner home care for your colour is imperative like the washing label in a new dress. At Tikadi we have professional home care options that we’ll recommend to you that will prolong and protect your colour services. We stock only the best around that includes Schwarzkopf, Moroccanoil and Unite.

Q4 Semi or permanent colour – what’s best to go for? I get asked a lot in the salon which option to go for – and by all means it’s my job to be able to offer advice on the matter. This all depends on your lifestyle, how much coverage you would like and your commitment to your

hair. Semis last between 8 and 28 washes according to the type of semi colour used, so it fades out with no visible regrowth and gives amazing shine. Permanent offers 100% coverage and a stronger depth of colour last-ing 4-6 weeks. Both of these options can have flashes of colour added to give that wow factor. If in doubt we can talk you through your options.

Q5 I always have trouble describing what colours I'd like for my hair. What can I do? OK - think of things that describe the colour you would like e.g. chocolate, toffee, ice cream. This will give your stylist a true insight into what you like. Pictures from magazines also help. Why not use these images in our magazine as a guide to help you select? If you have trouble describing your thoughts just let your hairdresser know – it’s not so unusual. But do remember as professionals we’ll also provide you with thoughts on what we feel is right for you and sometimes that might challenge your ideas – but we only want the best for you.

Q6 The condition of my hair is really dry after colour treatments what can I do? Colour is a process and your hair may feel dry. If this happens you need to start to rebuild the hair, it's strong stuff but needs a hand. Treatments are a great way to feed and give the hair nourishment. Shampoo opens the cuticle within the hair shaft enabling a good protein based treatment to penetrate to the very core working from the inside out. Once rinsed, use conditioner which will seal the cuticle scales down and lock in the treatment. It's like a facial for the hair.
