1. Introduction

Energy activities are the largest emitters of greenhouse gases. It is evident that emissions from

energy production & use are the main source of GHG emissions.The term renewable energy

covers a number of sources and technologies as different stages of development. By their

natures, renewable energy sources are generally carbon-free or carbon neutral. Many renewable

energy technologies have achieved major cost reductions over the last decades, which are

expected to continue in the medium term as large global companies enter new energy markets for

wind, solar & biomass technologies.

2. The Training was conducted to address the following objectives To raise awareness of Energy sector stallholders on issues of climate change, REDD+ basics

& Principles

To have Common Understanding over what Renewable Energy Technologies & Its

Implication on REDD+ Projects.

To participate the energy sector stakeholders & further involved in REDD+ through a variety

of renewable energy interventions & activities.

3. Official Opening of the Workshop The Training was officially opened by AtoMulugeta G/Silasseregional REDD+ coordinator and

in his remark Ethiopia has adopted the green economy strategy and one of the four pillars of the

strategy is forest development and REDD+ is the core policy and incentive mechanism to bring

sustainable development in the country

The coordinator concluded by thanking the participants being attends the workshop and REDD+

committed to arrange the training coordinated with Tigray agency of energy.

Finally AtoBirhaneHidaruVice coordinator of Agency of Energy, introduced the overall the

objective of the training, the experience& advantage of improved stoves in Tigray, andasked the

participants to deliver their knowledge and to actively participate throughout the ending of

workshop.

5 Training participants

This Theoreticaland practical training of Improved stoves and Entrepreneurship &it’s important

in society was conducted from19/03-28/03/ 2009 EC (for 10 days) at Adigudem.

5.1 Regional &woreda experts and producers trained theoretical & practical training on Energy

/improved stoves for 5 days ( 19 -23/03/09 EC) -------- 58 participants

5.2 Regional experts of Energy agency & Producers trained onEntrepreneurial functions and

roles in business for 5 days (24-28/03/09 EC) ----------- 28 participants

8 Results gained

Participants were created awareness the REDD+ objectives & Principles

The Integrateion among REDD+ and Agency Mining & Energywould be strengthened.

Producer participants of the training have got Knowledge about the relationship of REDD+

& Renewable energy

Participants were able to prepare some energy saving technologies.
