From the desk of ... Principal Hammonds
It’s hard to believe that August is already over. We have had a pretty good start to our year, but we
have a very long way to go to reach our goals. By now we have several pieces of information about our
students’ present levels of performance. Teachers are discussing and assisting students with setting
goals for themselves. Please collaborate with your scholar and his/her teacher to gain a clear
understanding of their academic positioning so you can support their progress. We are already
beginning to plan our third annual Student Led Conference Day in February 2019. We are excited to
welcome two new members to our faculty family, Alexandria Byars in kindergarten and Celeste Kelley in
third grade. They have already been woven in to the fabric of our school. We need every household to
join our PTA. We need the leverage that a vibrant, representative PTA membership provides in order to
access resources and opportunities beyond what we are able to do in and of ourselves. There is power in
numbers. Special thanks to the Foreign Language Action Group (FLAG) and our talented, creative staff
for integrating Spanish into our school day. Your child will gain access to online software in September
that will enable them to learn the Spanish language. FLAG will support our efforts both during and after school. Please be looking for that information and encourage your students to become bilingual.
