Please join us for dinner before the event and watch our Fine Arts department perform. After dinner and entertainment, there will be a brief meeting with me and then you are off to classrooms to meet your child’s amazing teachers. More details will follow regarding times, what we will be serving for dinner, and the price of dinner. DISTRICT IN-SERVICE DAY District inservice day is August 29th. We will not have students this day. Our district teachers get together to work on curriculum and instructional practice in order to be even more effective for your children. SUPPORT OUR BASEBALL PROGRAM The  Marana  Baseball  program  is  having  a  golf  tournament  fundraiser  on  August  30th  at  The  Gallery  at  Dove  Mountain.    The  cost  is  $90  for  an  individual  or  $360  for  a  foursome.    Registration  begins  at  7am  and  tee  time  is  8am.    You  can  e-­‐mail  or  call  Coach  McManus  for  more  information  at  [email protected]  or  (520-­‐609-­‐8142)

SUPPORT OUR NATIONALLY RANKED DANCE TEAMOur  nationally  ranked  dance  team  is  heading  back  to  nationals  this  year  and  they  need  your  support.  Please  join  them  at  Texas  Roadhouse  on  Tuesday,  August  19th  and  eat.  10%  of  the  sales  go  right  back  to  our  dance  team.  Please  take  the  attached  ^lyer  with  you.  Thank  you  for  your  support.

TUTORING BEGINS THIS WEEKAfter  school  tutoring  will  begin  on  Monday,  August  11,  2014.  It  is  a  free  service  we  offer  our  students  to  help  provide  extra  academic  support  when  necessary.General  tutoring  will  take  place  after  school  Monday-­‐Thursday  in  room  B4.  Math  tutoring  will  be  held  in  H17,  Monday-­‐Thursday  as  well.    In  addition  to  tutoring,  we  offer  other  interventions  to  help  ensure  the  needs  of  all  students  are  being  met.  There  is  a  general  Goal  (Great  Opportunity  to  Achieve  Learning)  which  will  be  held  in  G19  Monday-­‐Thursday.  We  have  Math  GOAL  as  well  which  will  be  in  room  G16  on  Tuesdays  and  Thursdays  only.  We  also  offer  Lunch  and  Learn  which  will  occur  Monday-­‐  Thursday  in  room  G19.

TRY-OUTS FOR JV CHEERTry-­‐outs  will  be  Tuesday,  Aug.  12th  &  Thursday,  Aug.  14th  starting  @  4:00.    Your  child  will  be  able  to  take  the  after  school  bus.    Ensure  they  turn-­‐in  their  physical  to  Mrs.  Holyoak  before  try-­‐outs.    Wear  workout  clothes  and  tennis  shoes.    

BUSINESS INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITYDo  you  have  a  highly  motivated  senior  with  an  interest  in  business  or  marketing?  Would  they  like  to  receive  high  school  credit  and  experience  with  database  management,  social  media  communications,  and  event  preparation?  If  so,  have  them  see  Mr.  Ruff  in  B-­‐9  about  information  on  an  internship  with  the  Marana  Chamber  of  Commerce.

Marana  Athletics  is  founded  on  the  Culture,  Commitment,  and  Competitive  philosophy  which  strives  to  strengthen  the  Caring  and  Effective  vision  while  teaching  athletes  to  ful^ill  their  commitments  to  their  teammates,  school  and  families  to  be  the  most  competitive  Tigers  they  can  be.  

We  are    honored  to  have  your  athlete  as  a  part  of  Marana  High  School  and  look  forward  to  a  great  year.  

The  week  of  August  11th,  Cross  Country,  Golf,  Swim  and  Volleyball  begin  to  hold  of^icial  try-­‐outs.  Please  ensure  your  student  athlete  has  their  athletic  packet  into  the  Athletic  Department  in  Student  Services  and  is  cleared  to  participate.  We  have  been  given  heat  alerts  as  a  safety  precaution  and  will  provide  water  for  our  athletes.  But  please  make  sure  your  son  or  daughter  well  hydrated  by  drinking  plenty  throughout  the  day  and  when  they  get  home  in  the  evening.  

We  are  very  excited  to  start  our  fall  sports  and  look  forward  to  seeing  your  Tiger  Pride!
