I trust you had a wonderful weekend. We have our Birst annual Ugly Sweater Run November 29th. See that attached information. Come out and join the fun will supporting your MHS clubs/sports and MUSD Holiday Share. We have a couple things going on this week, AIMS makeup and Halloween. Please see the information in this beat regarding the schedule this week for AIMS makeup. Halloween is this Friday and our students love dressing up. We have some parameters regarding what students can wear. Their costumes still have to meet student dress code and we need to be able to recognize them therefore, no masks or face paint that doesn’t allow us to recognize who they are. AIMS MAKE UP THIS WEEKAIMS  Make-­‐Up  is  this  tomorrow  (Tuesday),  Wednesday,  and  Thursday  for  Writing,  Reading,  and  Math.    Juniors  and  Seniors  who  need  to  make-­‐up  their  AIMS  must  attend.  Writing  is  Tuesday,  the  28th,  Reading  is  Wednesday  the  29th,  and  Math  is  Thursday,  the  30th.  The  regular  school  day  is  still  in  session,  so  all  students  are  to  arrive  at  the  normal  times.    Testing  begins  1st  period  all  three  days  and  will  go  until  lunch.    SCHEDULE THIS WEEK

Due  to  AIMS  make-­‐up  this  week  we  will  not  have  advisory.  We  will  be  running  a  Monday/Tuesday  schedule  all  week  except  Friday.  IMPORTANT STUDENT ANNOUNCEMENTS            Activities  during  lunch  Tuesday:

 The  NMSU  rep  will  be  on  campus  in  the  Career  CenterThere  will  be  a  very  important  meeting  for  ALL  GIRLS  interested  in  trying-­‐out  for  the  Basketball  team  in  Coach  Dozier’s  Room  B-­‐16  @  the  beginning  of  lunch.    It  will  not  take  long,  so  please  be  prompt.

Marana  High  School  is  pleased  to  implement  a  ‘Speak  Up’  Tip  Line.  The  tip  line  offers  a  24  Hour  safe  and  anonymous  option  for  students  and  parents  to  speak  up  about  bullying,  drugs,  alcohol,  weapons  and  violence.  The  SPEAK  UP  tip  line  at  520-­‐616-­‐6444  allows  the  caller  to  leave  a  message  which  will  be  reviewed  each  school  day,  by  a  school  administrator.  Credible  reports  are  investigated  and  acted  upon  in  accordance  with  district  policies.  SPEAK  UP  Tip  Line  should  NOT  be  used  as  a  means  to  communicate  emergency  or  time  sensitive  information.  The  line  is  not  a  crisis  line  or  hotline.Thank  you  in  advance  for  helping  to  keep  our  school  community  a  safe  place  to  learn!

TUTORING OPPORTUNITIESMarana  High  School  offers  a  variety  of  academic  interventions  to  help  ensure  that  your  child  has  every  opportunity  to  be  successful.  It  is  our  hope  that  students,  with  the  support  and  encouragement  of  their  parents,  will  take  advantage  of  these  opportunities.    We  offer  Goal  after  school  from  3:45-­‐5:45  pm  which  is  held  Monday-­‐Wednesday  in  room  J4.  Beginning  November  1  we  will  be  adding  

Thursday  availability  as  well.  Goal  is  assigned  by  a  classroom  teacher.  Additionally,  there  is  Lunch  and  Learn  which  is  held  in  room  G21  during  the  lunch  period.  Lunch  and  Learn  is  also  an  assigned  intervention.    There  is  after  school  tutoring  available  Monday-­‐Thursday  in  room  B4  from  3:45-­‐5:45  pm.  Students  must  be  signed  in  by  4  pm  in  order  to  receive  tutoring  services.  

STUDENT CELEBRATIONSCongratulations  to  Marana  Choir  singers  Gillian  Hurd,  Kevin  Nienhouse,  and  Kassie  Pierce  who  were  selected  to  sing  in  the  elite  University  of  Arizona  Honor  Choir.  The  festival  this  weekend  included  masterclasses  with  college  professors  and  joint  performances  with  UA’s  top  vocal  ensembles.    

MARANA FFA AND CONSTRUCTION HOSTING A HAUNTED BARNThe  Marana  FFA  and  Construction  will  be  hosting  a  haunted  barn  located  behind  the  land  lab  on  October  30th  and  31st  from  5  o’clock  to  9  o’clock  pm.You  can  buy  tickets  from  a  FFA  member,  the  bookstore,  or  by  the  gates  of  both  staff  and  student  parking  lot.
