By the first week of June, after Noelle, Kelly and Ellen finished the year at Washington Middle School, we moved to our new home in Mason. DECEMBER H A P P Y H O L I D A Y S OUR 16TH CHRISTMAS TOGETHER

After almost 25 years at McGraw-Hill in Dubuque, IA, Kris accepted and began a new Vice President position

with Cengage Learning in Mason, OH on March 30. By the first week of June, after Noelle, Kelly and Ellen finished the

year at Washington Middle School, we moved to our new home in Mason. The transition and move were hard on

all of us at one time or another: the

girls were moving away from friends, grandparents, and activities they loved; Kris and Jon were moving away from

friends, family, and jobs that we loved; and we held our collective breath as closing on and moving in to our new home took an agonizing 18 days that

tried our patience more than a few times. But we got through it together, and everyone is doing great--even

Bella, our 3-year-old dog. Kris loves the challenge of her new job. The girls are all doing well in school, and are making

new friends. Jon takes care of the house, shuttles the girls to and from various appointments, and is beginning

to look for work. While Kris has traveled more than ever, we appreciate every minute we have together.

Move to Ohio in June brings us closer

From our home to our address to our license plates, our move to Mason, Ohio brought major change to our lives in 2012. Mason is 20 miles NE of Cincinnati, between interstates 71 & 75.

Kris’ mom and dad ring up No. 50!

Dick and Alma Noel celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in October. Kris’ sister, Karen, had a weekend get-together for mom, dad, Kris, Noelle, Kelly and Ellen in Bloomington, IL, where she lives. Dick and Alma still live in Dubuque.

Bea & Tibb’s ‘7-year-itch’

Jon’s family remembered his mom and dad’s “7-year-itch” with a Tibbetts family get-together Memorial Day Weekend in Wisconsin Dells. Between Jon’s birthday in mid-April and his brother Kirk’s birthday at the end of May, the three Tibbetts brothers are all 7 years apart. We won’t say how old the boys are, but when you include Steve’s oldest daughter Sara, Noelle (14 in 2012), and Steve’s grandson Ryan (born in December 2011), there were six of us that are now part of the 7-year-itch.

Once a Hawk, Always a HawkAnyone who thought Jon would switch his allegiance to Ohio State just because we were moving to Ohio does not know him

very well. Jon kept his Iowa season tickets for football (4 home games, 1 road game) and loves getting together with his brothers and friends, tailgating before and after games.

THANKS to Jon & Kris’ McGraw-Hill friends for a terrific going away party

June 2 at Asbury Park.

NOELLENoelle started taking Spanish this fall, likes it a lot and did very well. She may take it all 4 years of high school. While our move was toughest on her, she’s doing well and finding her way at the largest high school in Ohio. She loves Starbucks, Chipotle and Planet Smoothie. Noelle will be confirmed April 11 at our new parish--St. Susanna.

KELLYKelly continues to play viola and excels in orchestra and all of her classes. She is considering trying out for softball, a spring sport at Mason Middle School. She’s made new friends. Kelly loves the variety of stores and restaurants that we have in the area. She went to her first NFL game in November-Packers at Lions-with her dad.

ELLENEllen loves to take photos and videos and manipulate photos, videos and graphics on the iPad. She’s making new friends at Mason Middle School, and did very well in all of her classes. She loves Five Guys burgers and fries, and shopping all over Cincinnati.

KRISThe move to Ohio has given Kris the chance to reconnect with her good friend, Keri Witman, who lives in Cincinnati. Kris traveled about every other week for 5 months this year, but she hopes it’s less next year now that she’s gotten to know her staffs in San Francisco, Boston, and Albany, NY.

JONJon loves just about everything about living in the Cincinnati area: 35 minutes from Reds home games, many new and different places to eat, plenty of golf courses, and spending quality time with the girls. It’s an 8-hour drive back to Iowa and Wisconsin for football games and golf outings.
