Thursday’s thoughts... 5th March 2020 www.holyfamilysalemoor.co.uk
Not forgetting Year 1 who took part in the Greater Manchester music hub vocal project based on the book
‘The Princess and the Pea.’ They took part in the performance, dressed in costumes, linked to the story. There were Queens, Kings, Princes, Princesses, peas,
cooks and even a duvet cover!!
The Year of the Word
Celebrating living and sharing God’s word
A prayer you can say with your children during
Lent.
Heavenly Father, Thank you that you are a generous God and that
you give us so many good things. We are sorry that we are not always
generous with others. Please help us this week to be kind, to do our very
best, and to be generous when we are helping others. Amen.
The week started off with some African drummers
who talked to the children about the different drums
and instruments and their origins. The hall was full
of music and amazement as the children were so
engrossed with the drummers. All the children got
up on their feet and moved to the music. It was
lovely to see and we know the children learnt so
much. Throughout the week as well as their normal
curriculum topics the children have learnt about
different aspects of Africa through English, Maths
and Geography to name just 3 areas!!
Wow, what a fantastic
book week never mind a
day!! This week the
whole school have
focused on the book
Amazing Africa’ by

Key Stage 2 Cross Country
The next run is on Saturday 7th March at 10am. We
ask children to arrive at 9.45am. Any child in Key
Stage 2 can just turn up to run.
Well done to the Year 2 children who represented
Holy Family School last week at a football tournament.
Miss Shingler said they played well and showed good
team spirit.
I would just like to give a polite reminder to parents of
taking greater care when driving with your children in
the car. Last week a parent was seen texting whilst
driving with their child in the car. I know this is your
choice to do so, but please think of the consequences
if there was an accident caused, ,because you were
sending a text message. We care about Respect.
We have been reminding the children of the importance of
washing their hands with soap after going to the toilet and
before they eat. We would appreciate it, if parents can also
relay this message. There is plenty of soap and paper
towels in the toilets. We do not use the electric hand dryers.
