MARRIAGE SUSTAINEDBY SISTER BUKKY

Igive glory to God for His mercies from January toDecember last year. I want to tell everyone, espe-cially women, that, no matter where the wind ofmarriage sweeps you, as long as you are groundedin the Word, the Lord will sustain you. It is even

much better if the home you are moving into is gov-erned by the Word of God.

The words of Pastor Bimbo Odukoya on marriageare still alive in my marriage because those wordsare powerful. When your husband makes you feel soangry and you feel like you dont want to see the managain, and you remember her words like, Woman,fight for your marriage, those things keep you going.You are bound to remember that if others are able toremain in their own marriages, you too can make it.

We have been married for four years and, in thechurch where we worship, we have received the Best

Couple of the Year award. Who am I? A mere child. Ibless God because where marriages of over 20 yearshave collapsed, mine is still standing. There is onething I want everyone to know: whatever happens inyour marriage, your foundation, who you listen to andwho mentors you, matter. I thank God. I am alwayshappy to be at The Fountain of Life Church becauseit is my foundation. Praise the Lord!

Iam thanking God for His steadfast love that neverceases. I thank Him for His faithfulness over my lifeand for delivering me from shame and reproach. Ipraise God for Pastor Taiwo and every other Pastorof this church. I came here with a load of problems

in my heart and the Lord lifted it off me. I have beenbelieving God for the fruit of the womb since May2009 when I wedded. I got pregnant the very firstmonth of our wedding but lost it after three months.An evacuation was done and it caused so many issues

that resulted in delay for me.I was in Thursday Showers one morning when

I heard the announcement of a forthcoming Fruit-ful Vine programme in October 2010. My spirit gotaroused immediately, so I decided to attend, no mat-ter how busy my day would be. At 5pm that evening,as I was getting ready for the service, I started feelingan unusual pain in my abdomen. About 20 minuteslater, I discovered it was my period and the zeal toattend the service was gone. When it was 6pm, theLord spoke to me strongly and said, Come unto me

all ye that labor and are heavy laden and I will give yourest. The voice kept coming until I became restlessand I decided to attend the programme.

Towards the end of the service, Pastor Taiwo madean altar call and all who answered were anointed. Assoon as I received that anointing, my spirit was liftedand there was peace in my soul.

The following month, in November, I missed myperiod and I was confirmed pregnant by my doc-tor. Praise the Lord! The pregnancy was completely

stress-free. I was looking very strong and beautifulwith the pregnancy and the God of The Fountain ofLife Church helped me to carry the pregnancy suc-cessfully for nine months.

On August 9, 2011, labour started as soon as Ireturned from work and I called on the God of Pas-tor Taiwo to go with me to the delivery room. I wasin labour for 15 hours and nothing happened. Thenthe doctor took a decision to do a Caesarian section.I started weeping bitterly, but I quickly rememberedthe promise I picked here when my pregnancy was sixmonths: With God, nothing shall be impossible. Ishouted God of impossibilities, come and help me!

At the 99th hour, when the nurses were gettingtheir tools ready for the operation, a strong urge topush came and I did. Lo and behold, I pushed outa healthy baby boy that weighed 2.8kg. Tears of joystarted flowing from my eyes. The boy was namedEmmanuel, Ogheneruona (God did it for me).

May all glory be to Jesus forever and ever.

children from the land of bondage, he was obvi-ously an unlikely candidate for the task. After all, hisknowledge of military tactics as a prince in Egypt wasalready lost to forty years of shepherding. But thatdid not stop God from making him his first choice.

Even his decision to answer the call of God, andefforts to bring out his brethren from the land ofEgypt, did not meet instantly with the desired results.First, he had to convince his people that he was trulyfrom God. And when he thought he had gained theconfidence of his brethren, they murmured againsthim as Pharaoh tightened his grip on them.

Then came the ten plagues with which Godwrecked havoc on the land of Egypt. Like everyoneelse, Moses must have wondered at some point why itwas taking God so long to accomplish this task.

Finally, the Lord released His joker! He slew allthe firstborn of Egypt, and Pharaoh had to practicallydrive the children of Israel out of the land. Then asthey were beginning to rejoice, they came face to facewith the Red Sea. Almost everyone blamed Moses, asif the Lord had never done anything for them. Moses

must have felt alone, and so cried out to God in des-peration.The truth is, one of the greatest miracles in history

might never have occurred if the children of Israel didnot encounter the Red Sea. They crossed over on dryground while their enemies perished behind them.

So, it must have been an exhausted, but highlyelated Moses, that mobilised the children of Israel tosing praises to God after the awesome manifestationof His power at the Red Sea. It did not matter the

challenges they encountered, it was enough that Godbrought them through. And they were truly gratefulto God for everything.

Is it not amazing that God cherishes any man whoenjoys his favours, without forgetting to come backto show appreciation? Part of the reason He blessedDavid so much and elevated him was that he alwaysreturned with a heart of gratitude to God after everyfavour. The one out of the ten lepers got an extrablessing because he came back to Jesus to say Thankyou.

The first quarter of the year has come to an end,

and you are among those privileged to be alive. I wantyou to reflect on the goodness of the Lord in your life.It is true you still have expectations that are not yetmet. But can you sing a song of praise to God rightnow for the victories He has wrought on your behalf?Let that song remain on your lips all through the year.You will be amazed how much God appreciates it.

Perhaps you do not have a personal relationshipwith this God we are talking about. You can get Himinvolved in your affairs by starting a personal rela-

tionship with Him. If you would like to, please praythis prayer:Heavenly Father, I thank You for giving up Your

only begotten Son Jesus Christ that I might havelife. I recognize that I am a sinner. I ask that Youforgive my sins. Today, I surrender my life to You.I receive the grace to live to your glory henceforth.In Jesus Mighty Name I pray.

To me, there is nothing else in this world like being in the presence of God,because in the presence of God I get refreshed - chains get broken, liberty sur-rounds me. It is in Thursday Showers I discovered that while worshiping God, Hespeaks to me expressly, and when I obey those words that dropped in my spiritman, I make no mistakes.

I always look forward to Thursday Showers no matter my assignment, and Ialso thank God for our daddy-in-the-Lord for obeying the Holy Spirit for thisfellowship.

My testimony for Showers is Gods divine intervention concerning our accom-

modation. A sister paid for the accommodation in 2005 without collecting themoney back from us!

T

his was the scriptural reference used by Pas-

tor Taiwo Odukoya, the Senior Pastor of The

Fountain of Life Church, as a backgroundto his brief exhortation at the March 2012edition of Victoria Island Showers. Speaking

on the imperative of drawing power from above, Hesaid that supernatural living is not limited to few indi-

viduals, as many erroneously believed, but is open toeverybody. However, the distinguishing factor is theindividuals understanding of and relationship withGod through His Word, he noted.

Expatiating further, he affirmed that power comes

from the word of God, and this power is what theChristian needs to live a supernatural life. Power isalso needful in the fulfillment of believers desires tobe above only and not beneath.

Whilst referring to the Holy Spirit as the ever-pres-ent help in times of need, Pastor Taiwo maintainedthat the Holy Spirit is the only force that can takeany Christian beyond where he or she is presently.According to him, the Holy Spirit is given to us toquicken our body from all infirmity, even death. Heis given to us to establish and empower us.

He went on to illustrate the ability of the Holy Spiritto move us above our limitations and present position

by citing the testimonies of Apostle Paul. Accordingto him, Paul himself testified that he was the least ofthe apostles, having previously persecuted the saints.But when he experienced the power from above, hetestified that, although he walked in the flesh, he didnot war after the flesh.

As Christians, therefore, the scope of our earthlyexploits is proportional to our understanding of thepersonality of the Holy Spirit. For instance, yourunderstanding of the Holy Spirit as the ever present

help in time of need gives you confidence of successin whatever endeavour you undertake. According toPastor Taiwo, the Holy Spirit is always present to helpyou overcome challenges and obstacles that you willnever ordinarily overcome on your own.

He reminded the congregation that praying in theSpirit is the greatest weapon against the devil, identi-fying prayer as the key for overcoming all challenges.He challenged the congregation to pray in the first halfhour of every day and see if God would not stand forthem all through the day.

I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts againstthe Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not dothe things that you wish. - Galatians 5:16-18 (NKJV)
