HOWARD COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
JULY 27, 2020 THE TWENTY-NINTH DAY The Board of Supervisors of
Howard County, Iowa met in reg-ular session as required by the law at the Office of the Howard County Board of Supervisors, Cresco, Iowa on July 27, 2020.
Unless noted in the minutes, all motions were passed unani-mously.
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Pat Murray at 9:00 a.m.
Those present were: Chair-man in the Chair Pat Murray, Jerry Steven, and Joe Pisney. Absent; None.
A motion by Joe Pisney and seconded by Jerry Steven to ap-prove the agenda as posted. Mo-tion passed.
A motion by Jerry Steven and seconded by Joe Pisney to ap-prove the minutes of the last meeting. Motion passed.
Jerry Steven had an Iowa Workforce Development meeting by conference call and a zoom meeting with Iowa Workforce De-velopment.
Pat had a Board of Health meeting in Cresco, Life Long Link Advisory meeting by zoom, CSS meeting by zoom, and an UERPC meeting by zoom.
Howard County Attorney Kevin Schoeberl came before the board to discuss the new weapons legislative bill. The no weapons signs have been re-moved from the doors of the courthouse with the exception of court areas.
Howard County Recorder Cherri Caffrey came before the board to request putting an ad in the paper to hire a fulltime Clerk with Cherri’s retirement on 8-12-
2020. The board gave the go ahead to start advertising.
A motion by Jerry Steven and seconded by Joe Pisney to allow the Auditors Office remote ac-cess when needed. Motion passed.
A motion by Joe Pisney and seconded by Jerry Steven to ap-prove the InukShuk Technologies agreement. Motion passed.
Paul Berland with RC&D con-ference called in.
A motion by Jerry Steven and seconded by Joe Pisney to ap-prove a site Specific Environ-mental Review. Motion passed.
A motion by Joe Pisney and seconded by Jerry Steven to ap-prove a public hearing on August 3, 2020 at 9:00 a.m. for a bid tab reviews. Motion passed.
Nick Rissman came before the board to discuss Secondary Roads Business.

NORTHEAST IOWA - The Mitchell and Howard County Op-portunity Fund’s 2020 grant cycle is now open. The online grant ap-plication and grant guidelines may be found on the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa’s website at www.cfneia.org/mhgrant. The deadline to submit grant applications is 11:59 p.m. on Oct. 31, 2020.
Grant request amounts should be between $500 and $4,000 for projects that address education, have an educational component within their programming or support environmental conservation, educational efforts or outdoor experiences. Eligible applicants must be a 501(c)(3) designated organization or government entity serving Mitchell and/or Howard counties. Applications must be submitted online by Oct. 31, 2020 to be considered for funding. Grant recipi-ents will be announced in December 2020.
First-time grant applicants should contact Dotti Thompson, pro-gram manager at the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa, at 319-243-1358 or [email protected] prior to submitting an ap-plication.

Mitchell & Howard Co. Opportunity Fund grant cycle open
Underwood Tree Service has been cutting down trees around Riceville this summer. On Monday (Aug. 3), they were working on a tree on Cherry Street, just south of Fifth Street.
Work is still being done on the bathrooms at the activity center.
