Congratulations Will Moore for
enlisting in the Navy!! Will begins
his basic training at the end of July.
July and August are months of the year when we find ourselves traveling a great deal for family vacations. The highways and flyways are very busy as we try to “get away from it all.” In the spirit of travel, we share with you this reading from Thomas H. Troeger in his book, Above the Moon Earth Rises: Hymn Texts, Anthems, and Poems for a New Creation.
Traveler, Are You Passing Through? Traveler, are you passing through?
We are on a journey too. Here we meet to feast and rest,
each of us, like you, a guest. We have found a deep spring here,
constant water, pure and clear, and a fire to keep us warm
through the night, the cold and storm.
Traveler, have you lost your way? We have room for you to stay.
Come on in and spend the night. Wait until the morning light.
Tell us where you started from, where you’ve been, how far you’ve come.
We will tell what we have learned: where we doubled back and turned.
Traveler, have you far to go? Up ahead is hard and slow.
At our table take a seat. We have more than we can eat. Join us and renew your strength needed for the journey’s length. You, our guest, be host instead.
Bless and break and pass the bread.
Traveler, have we met before? Sharing bread we share far more,
share our stories, songs, and prayers, share our common hopes and cares
till it dawns on us to trace In your eyes and in your face
what we sensed but hardly knew: Christ our friend is here in you!
May you have surprising joy and a restful respite along your journey this summer!

Otter Camp was a bit soggy, but otters love to play in the rain and we still had a wonderful experience at Camp Christian! In addition to our Otter volunteers who served for the whole week, we had many folks from NWCC who took a shift
or two and helped in the dining hall and other areas. And… even before camp began, we had many people from NWCC who were helping to prepare Otter crafts and fill Easter eggs for one of our activities. A huge “thank you” is
extended to everyone who helped make Otter Camp a success!
Otter volunteers: Jim and Judy Embree, Dave and Debbie Stephan, Terry Roe, John Davis, Corinne Femia, Minch Huang, Olivia, Joe, and Robby Trent,

II Corinthians 8:2-5 And now, brothers and sisters, we want you to know about the grace that God has given the Macedonin churches.
In the midst of a very severe trial, their overflowing joy and their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity. For I testify that they gave as much as they were able, and even beyond their ability. Entirely on their own, they urgently pleaded with us for the privilege
of sharing in this service to the Lord’s people. And they exceeded our expectations: They gave themselves first of all to the Lord, and then by the will of God also to us.
As you may know, NWCC is experiencing financial concerns. Our spending has remained within our budget, but our income is noticeably lower than our expectations. Please pray about this.
Paul is expressing his appreciation for the generosity of the Macedonians, who have given generously even though they themselves have been experiencing problems. They had asked Paul if they could give. He notes that first of all, they gave themselves to God.
Generosity that pleases God is about attitude. This is a key to a generosity that is pleasing to God. It isn’t the amount of money given, or even the percentage of one’s financial resources; it is about the desire to be generous and helpful, followed by actual giving. This is the example we are to follow.
We are to be wholly given to God, with a loving and generous attitude. It is then that we can define ourselves as a generous church family. Carla Nuenke, Stewardship Chair
Judy Becker, the mother of Elder Sean Becker, passed away suddenly after a brief
illness and surgery on Friday, June 28. Her memorial service has been held on
Tuesday, July 2, at Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home on Robbins.
Ave. in Niles, Ohio. Our sincerest condolences are
extended to Sean and Liz, Katie and Thomas.
Sympathies to Cody Grabbe’s family on the passing of his father, Dave Grabbe. Dave
passed away suddenly on Sunday, June 30, in Memphis, Tennessee.
We express our sympathy to the family of Jane Moore, who passed away on
Tuesday, June 18. Jane’s memorial service will be held at 9:00 am on Saturday, July 13,
at Friendship Village in the Convocation Room.
Please keep Betty Heppner, Jan and Rob McConathy’s mother and a
non-resident member of NWCC, in our thoughts and prayers. Betty is
hospitalized with cancer in Indianapolis. If you would like to send her a
get well card her address is:

17,500 Grateful families were provided food by NWCC and our NNEMAP food pantry
church network last year. Over 100 volunteers from this network volunteer time each month . so the food can be purchased (10 cents on the dollar) from MidOhio food pantry, donated by individuals, or picked
up as donations from supporting area stores.
Each year, NNEMAP shuts down during state fair time, and the 30+ network churches run a fair parking operation at NNEMAP, just across
the street from the fair entrance. It is the best deal in town! $5, right at the gate.
Our churches provide teams for each day. NWCC has Friday, August 2.
A one day parking operation at NNEMAP can provide enough $$ for around 500 meals!
Our day has 3 time slots: 8-12, 12-4, 4-8.
Can you help? Can you give 4 hours to provide about 32 meals to a poor area of the city? Can you be part of a 2-3 member team for 4
hours, graciously helping delighted families on their day at the fair? Oh, did I mention you get
free fair parking, too?
Look for a signup poster in the narthex. Discuss it with Sam Moore, Carla Nuenke,
Sean Becker...all integral members of NNEMAP’s operations. Volunteer for
a slot...support NWCC!
MEMORIAL PARAMENTS ON LOAN
Our chapel has been graced with beautiful paraments for the past few liturgical seasons. On Pentecost and for Faith’s ordination the red paraments were placed on the sanctuary
lectern and pulpit to celebrate that special Sunday. These artistic creations were designed and stitched by Mona Stevenson of New Franklin, Missouri and are on loan to our church
through the generous contribution of the Jewell family (Liz and Sean Becker.) The liturgical paraments for all seven seasons were made to the glory of God and in loving memory of Carol
A. Jewell, Liz’s grandmother. They were dedicated on July 11, 2010, and have resided at Central Christian Church, Lima, Ohio, the home congregation of the Jewell family. Now they
are being shared with us as an expression of love and caring. Please stop in the Chapel for prayer and to see these unique paraments. Throughout July all of the sets will be on display
for your inspiration and enjoyment.
