THE EXPERIENCEDay 1: Kia Ora New Zealand It’s an early start as you meet your fellow travellers and tour leaders at Brisbane or Melbourne International Airport with the sun rising in the backdrop. Enjoy a few hours sleep (you will need them) or catch a movie on the Emirates entertainment as we cross the Tasman.

Once we have all arrived in Auckland, we will collect our luggage and make our way to our luxury coach, that will set course for Rotorua. Along the way, your tour leaders will have a few games and challenges to ensure you get to know your fellow travellers.

Tonights welcome dinner is at local icon ‘The Fat Dog’. Following that we settle in for a well earned rest at the Tia Mitchell Lodge, our home in Rotorua.

Day 2: Start me up! (The EPIC adventure day)What better way to start your awesome ‘Schoolies’ alternative than an adrenaline pumping OGO ball race down the 250m H20Go track in Rotorua!

With a smile a mile wide, you quickly dry off before heading skywards on the Skyline Gondola to the top of Mt. Ngongotaha.

Here you will test out your balance and maneuvering skills on the awesome Mountain Luge reaching incredible speeds as you twist and turn through the forest and down the mountain. Once you hit the bottom, you can ride the chair lift back up and go again!

Mt. Ngongotaha is also home to the infamous Rotorua Sky Swing, a ride that will test even the bravest of travellers as you are dropped from 50m above the ground and propelled at 120km/h over the edge of the mountain on this bungy like swing ride.

Whilst on the swing you will enjoy spectacular views of Rotorua city and the surrounding lakes, whilst secure in your specially designed safety harness.

Believe it or not - we haven’t even had lunch yet!

Day 2: The EPIC day continues... After a delicious buffet lunch with panoramic views we will head to Agroventures adventure park to continue the adrenaline rush. Here, you can enjoy some of New Zealand’s most iconic adventure rides including:

Swoop

Experience acceleration of 10m per second as you plummet from the sky at 130km/h and swing to a height of 40m, strapped into the safety harness with two of your Thrill Out! friends.

Freefall Xtreme

This is the closest you will ever get to being a super hero as you fly in New Zealand’s only wind tunnel. Trained staff provide you with a flying suit, and a few tips as you take flight and even do a few twists and barrel rolls.

Tonight we head into the ancient forest for an authentic Maori cultural experience at Tamaki Village.

As the village comes to life we will experience Maori art and crafts, weaponry displays, ancient stories and traditional songs and dance - including the famous haka!

We will also be given the opportunity to eat a Hangi meal, steamed underground the traditional way.

Day 3: Getting our hands (and ourselves) dirty

It’s time to get off-road and experience an unforgettable 4x4 self drive off-road tour through New Zealand’s natural wonders.

Following an experienced guide, we will explore the beautiful Mount Ngongotaha countryside & native bush. We are taken to various scenic lookouts during the tour so make sure you bring your camera to capture the moment.

At yLead, we believe it is important to give back to the local community when we travel as a sign of our gratitude.

This afternoon, we have the chance to give back through our community challenge. This will give you the opportunity to meet the locals, learn about the challenges facing the community and leave behind a tangible legacy.

Dinner tonight is at Lone Star - another New Zealand icon.


Day 5: More thrills and spins - Huka FallsAfter completing our 24 hour white water rafting challenge, get ready for the thrills, chills and spins at incredible speeds on the spectacular Huka Falls Jet boat ride.

Tonight we dine in a unique fashion with an all you can eat BBQ banquet. Choose your own ingredients – meat, fresh produce, oils and sauces – and watch your meal be cooked right before your eyes.

Day 4: Strap yourself in... it’s time to get wet The White Water Rafting Challenge!This morning we will witness the natural spectacle Pohutu Geyser where water erupts 30m into the sky.

We will then jump on the coach and take a 2 hour drive to the town of Taupo, where we will enjoy a beautiful picnic lunch by the world-famous Taupo lake.

After lunch we begin our 24 hour white water rafting experience down the Tongariro River with Rafting NZ.

Challenge yourself as you descend through grade 2 and 3 rapids and leap from rocks into the depths of the river.

Tonight we camp by the riverbank - a unique and memorable occasion led by your tour leaders.

Day 6: Take me higher! - Rock’n RopesSpend the morning soaring to great heights at the adrenaline charged Rock’n Ropes. Scramble across ladders, balance on ‘tree tops’ and move through rickety bridges up to 12m above the ground.

Enjoy your last afternoon exploring Taupo and grabbing some souvenirs before getting razzed up for our special celebration dinner. For our last night together we’ll celebrate in style and reflect on our extraordinary week!

Day 7: Australia CallingThis morning we take a leisurely drive back into Auckland – take the time to grab some last minute selfies with your new BFFs and bros.

Departing Auckland in the evening, we will fly to Australia with great friends, unforgettable memories and a fresh look at what lies ahead.


At yLead, we believe that every student deserves the right to celebrate the completion of their secondary education. It is a huge milestone and an important rite of passage as they transition into adulthood. It should be a unique opportunity for students to be with their friends, de-stress, reflect on their success, have fun and meet other young people going through a similar transition.

Unfortunately, a culture has developed in Australia that sees many young people put at risk when celebrating ‘Schoolies’. Many of the options available have become infiltrated by drugs, alcohol and risk-taking behaviour creating an unsafe and uncomfortable environment.

Annually, yLead has the opportunity to interact with more than 25,000 young people across Australia. We believe that the only way to challenge this growing culture is to get in front of students and present them with fresh and exciting alternatives.

yLead is proud to offer school leavers with a series of drug and alcohol free experiences that are centered around creating life-long friendships and memories.

Our carefully selected Australian leaders have vast experience with both travel and working with young people. They are complemented by expert leaders from the best and most reputable suppliers in the country.

HEALTH, SAFETY AND WELLBEING

HealthIt is always advisable to see a travel doctor (or GP) before travelling overseas. They have up-to-date information about health concerns in the area of travel. Typically New Zealand is very low risk.

It is very important that you inform yLead of any health requirements before departure. We can then ensure our tour leaders are well prepared to keep you healthy and comfortable at all times.

Every participant is issued Covermore comprehensive travel insurance as part of their tour package.


What is included in the expedition fee?At yLead, we believe in making our experiences as inclusive as possible, and being completely upfront with any costs associated. Your adventure fee includes:

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Can I invite a friend? Yes! All Year 12 school leavers are welcome on the trip even if they have not been part of previous yLead experiences.

What else do I need to buy?• $250NZD spending money for snacks, drinks

What if I’m scared of some of the activities? That’s OK! We were too! We have designed this experience to challenge you, push your limits, and take you outside of your comfort zone. It is yLead’s philosophy, that the adrenaline based activities be ‘challenge by choice’, meaning that we will not force you to participate in anything you are not willing to do. We will try to talk you into it a little bit though, as we know how much you will get out of ‘taking the leap’. (Note: Due to supervision requirements the Community Challenge, White Water Rafting and Tamaki Village are compulsory activities)

How do I guarantee my place on the trip? Simply complete and submit the travel registration form to yLead (it doesn’t matter if you don’t have a valid passport at the time of submission) and pay your non-refundable deposit as per the registration form instructions.

Is it completely drug and alcohol free? Yes, absolutely, even for the leaders. yLead has a zero tolerance policy on drugs and alcohol. We sincerely believe in the quality of the young people that choose to join us on this trip and therefore don’t expect there to be any problems. It is important however to know that we are committed to our zero tolerance policy and any breach, regardless of its nature, will jeopardise your participation in the remainder of the trip.

Do I need a passport? Yes you do, with at least 6 months validity from your return date. If you don’t have one yet, you can still complete the registration form, and send us the details when you get them. You should apply now through Australia Post.
