1. The Mix Tape, Make a cd of favorite love songs foryour special someone.
2. Fill a basket with favorite bath oils, creams, body wash, etc. These items can be purchased for a $1 and under at your local dollar store.
3. Why not get out and spend time with one another. A good suggestion if it’s snowing, try going sledding and having a hot cup of cocoa with each other afterwards. This allows you to spend more quality time with one another.
4. Look for Contests! There are always a ton of contests and free giveaways for Valentine’s Day. Keep an eye out prior to the day as they always start before Valentine’s Day actually gets’s here. And remember if you’re skeptical, you can’t win anything if you don’t try.
5. Try Romantic Gestures. A back rub, breakfast in bed, foot massage and a romantic meal, these are all free and usually warmly welcomed from your loved one.
6. Remind them. Place little post it notes around the house letting them know why you love them. Perhaps send a romantic text during the day as well letting them know.
7. Curl up on the couch together and do absolutely nothing all day but spend time together.
8. Rewatch your favorite movie together as a couple
9. Take a walk on the beach, or simply around your neighborhood. On the plus side fresh air is always a welcomed benefit as well.
10. IOU Cards, or coupons: Such as I owe you one time at washing the dishes, giving you a back rub, doing the laundry, etc. I can tell you that these would be wonderful for husbands (boyfriends) to give their ladies.

With a little bit of time and creativity you can spend honestly
absolutely nothing at all on Valentine’s Day and still have a wonderful
holiday. Valentine’s Day is about showing the other person you love
them and just how much, who said it has to be a fancy ring,or necklace?
How to Save Money for Children’s ValentinesValentines Day for kids can be a huge kick to the budget sometimes.
Extra money is spent on food, parties, cards, and other activities. But
I’m here to help you learn just how you can save money and still let
your kids be the talk of the class this Valentines Day.
Make Your Own Valentines Day Cards Instead of going out and buying Valentines to give away, have your
kids make their own. The recipients of these will be so pleased with
the work that your children put into them, and you will have a project
for some extra family time and to keep the kids busy all day.
Bake Instead of BuyingIf your classroom allows (as I know some schools want everything
prepackaged), bake healthy treats for your kids to take into the
classroom. You can make up a double batch so you have some
goodies at home as well.
Reuse CardsDid you happen to save last years Valentines Day cards? If you did
then you can cut off the fronts of them and glue them onto
construction paper to make even fancier homemade cards.
Look for Free EntertainmentIf it’s feasible with the classroom teacher, offer to provide poems,
music or other activities for the class party instead of bringing in items
that must be purchased.

5
If you’ve waited to the last minute to get your Valentines Day gifts, no worries you are not alone. The good news is we have some awesome last minute gifts that don’t have to cost you an arm and a leg to get in the process.
Single RoseWhy not purchase one single rose,
and include a hand written love
note, sweet treat (that you baked of
course) and have a picnic at home.
Massage CouponsYou could give your special
someone certificates to that
expensive salon in town, or you
can give them your own massage
coupons. They will love it 10 times
more that it’s given from you.
Handwritten PoemNo one says it better than you just
how much you love your significant
other, not even hallmark. A hand
written poem that you wrote
especially for them not only
signify’s your love for them but
shows them you really care with
the time and energy that you put
into the gift.
Dedicate a songWhy not call up your local radio
station to dedicate a song
especially for your special
someone.
Learn a New LanguageWhy not learn to say “I love you, or
“I cherish you” in a different
language than your native tongue.
This is another way to impress and
sweep them off their feet.
100 ReasonsWrite down the top 100 reasons
why you love your significant other
and read them to them on
Valentines Day. They will be so
overwhelmed with Love, they will
not know how to thank you
properly.

Have a Romantic Dinner at Home
6
Are you looking for ways to have the best Valentines Day possible
with your special someone, but not break the bank in the process?
Well you are in luck. I am referred to as a bit of a “Queen” in the
Valentines Day department, because I’m able to plan and execute
spectacular activities without spending a lot of money in the
process. In fact, just more recently, my friends and family have
seen just how well my husband and I enjoy our Valentines Day on
little money that they have enlisted me on their quest for a Thrifty
but Wonderful Valentines Day. I would like to share with you all a
few simple tips and tricks that can have you seeing hearts and
cupid, and not dollar signs.
Have Dinner at Home
This might seem a bit odd or out of the normal to you, but just
because it’s the day of LOVE, doesn’t mean you have to go out to a
fancy restaurant. You can have just as a romantic evening indoors
as you canned at a five star restaurant. Granted this will take a bit
more planning and thinking on your part, but trust me, it will totally
be worth it. Take the time ahead of time to get familiar with your
sweethearts favorite dishes. Perhaps try them out on them ahead
of time and make a list of the ones they loved, and the ones that
are a no-go. In addition, include one or two “romantic” meals to set
the tone. Why not give the following recipes a try.
