    THREE PART VERBS!!!

    Come up with think of a solution, excuse; to manage to find or improvise something. I came up with a date at the last minute.My mom isalways able to come up with some yummy snack for me in the afternoon.

    Get away with- to escape, taking someone or something with one, to do something and not get punished for it.

    Fall behind with Make less progress. I was ill for a week and FELL BEHIND with my work.

    look down on somebody/something - to consider someone or something as not important or of value. Have a low opinion. A lot ofpeople look down on us because we're homeless, she says

    look up to -to view someone with respect and admiration. Bill really looks up to his father.Everyone in the class looked up to the teacher

    live up to - to fulfill expectations; to satisfy a goal or set of goals, to be as good as you said or thought something would be. I hope I can liveup to my reputation.The class lives up to i ts reputation of being exciting and interesting.

    get round to- Finally manage to do something, make the effort to do something. It always takes me ages to GET AROUND to replying toletters.

    Stand up for- deffend,suport. He's the kind of manager who will always STAND UP FOR his staff

    3. cornered the market-dominates the market

    4. hard sell- aggressive

    5. get off the ground- make a succesful start

    6. in the works- in preparation

    7. get to the point- start talking about whats relevant

    9. bounced a check- bad check, not enough money10. a cog in a machine- a small part of the system

    BUSINESS EXPRESSIONS:

    1. downsize- to reduce the number of staff in a firm

    2. a merger- when two companies join to become one

    3. a troubleshooter- a consultant who diagnoses problems in a company

    4. natural wastage- to reduce the workforce by not replacing those who leave the company

    5. to cut back- to reduce the amount of money spent

    6. to bail out- to financialy support a company with problem

    7.outsourcing- obtaining materials or components fro suppliers outside the company

    8. a golden handshake- a benefit package pait to employees who are laid off

    9. lay off- to dismiss members of staff

    10. compensation to dismiss an employee with generous benefits such as a cash bonus

    11. remuneration- money paid for work or a service
