About the Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp
Great thinkers and visionaries all over the world have repeatedly predicted India as one of the future
driver of the global economy. The National Knowledge Commission in its‟ report has strongly
emphasized the role of education in catalyzing Entrepreneurship, especially in the highly skilled and
knowledge-driven sectors. Though entrepreneurship is not new to India, however entrepreneurship as
a subject in Technical/Technology institutions, most Professional Education Institutions would like to
see their students as entrepreneurs and would also like to be a part of the mainstream in
entrepreneurship development process. Entrepreneurship as a career option is gaining momentum
only recently as the emergence of knowledge based technopreneurs all over the world. Like any other
field, entrepreneurship as a subject studies and entrepreneurship as a practice are two different things.
Since the objective of the entire studies is for facing the examination, there is hardly any effort in
developing the skill and motivation of entrepreneurship within the curriculum. Keeping in view to
create awareness among students and faculty of engineering about various facets of entrepreneurship
as an alternative career option, an „Entrepreneurship Awareness Program‟ is designed to bring
together the experts from academia, industries, government agencies and start-up companies. It will
also explore the possible business opportunities and create all necessary awareness to start a business
unit as per government procedures.

to 8th

The program was inaugurated by Mr. T. Siddanna, Joint Director, District Industries
Center, Belagavi. In his Speech he opined that new industries sustain only with new products
and new ideas. India is driver of the global economy of 21st century. Today India requires job
providers, than job seekers. The challenge for today‟s technopreneurs is to make use of
naturally and locally available resources. The government and DIC are supporting new
entrepreneurs by providing the first hand information. Many details are available on
departmental website and guidance cell is open around the clock to help the young
entrepreneurs. The government is ready to pay one crore rupees in the form of loan to start a
right project.
Mr. Karthik P. Nayak Managing Director, PRNJCB, Dharwad, the Guest of Honour
of the occasion informed the gathering about the characteristics of the entrepreneurship. To
become a successful entrepreneur the vision and leadership are the pillars which are built on
the foundation of self confidence. In today‟s competitive business world even running the
family business is also a big challenge because the expectations of the costumer are the
changed with time. Today‟s mantra is “No Need to Do Different Things, but Do the Things
Differently”. Because of the attraction, people are running towards East and becoming
entrepreneurs there only. But it is our duty to pay back something to the place of birth.
