Well I have some good news to report. We prayed that we could skip the dip this year. And while we did have a dip in our aendance (largely related to the short 7-week summer created by the school calendar change), I am thrilled to report to you that not only did we skip the dip financially, our 2016 summer giving was the best summer we’ve seen in 5 years! It is truly a God-thing and thank you for faithfully giving to Bayside. It is making a huge difference and is allowing us to roll into the busy Autumn season in a very strong financial posion. 2. And honestly we are a lile afraid too, because she promises to write a tell -all book that is sure to be a best seller. Emily, we love you and are honored to have worked for the Lord alongside you. So summer 2016 is in the books and another huge “Thank You” is in or-der. As you may recall, if you are a regular reader of the newsletter, I wrote in June’s newsletter about “skipping the dip.” Historically in the church (and all non-profits for that matter) June, July, and August usher in the annual dreaded “summer dip.” The dip is the annual deep drop in contributions, which often creates real angst for the church budget. I also want to celebrate the 18 peo-ple who followed the Lord in Bap-tism last month at our beach bap-tism at Howard Park. It was a per-fect day in every way! The weather was perfect, the Spirit was strong, and the support of 200+ who showed up to witness our friends’

baptisms was a highpoint of the summer. Our incredible staff and volun-teers coordinated the entire event to perfection. Well done, Bayside!

The Wire Nut

I told this story a few Sunday’s back during the I love My Church Series and thoughts I’d offer it again here. A few weeks ago Kristy and I were away for the weekend when we received a call from our daughter. She was clearly upset because apparently she had hit the side of the garage as she was pulling the car out. The damage to the car was minimal but what was the greater concern was that garage door was stuck and wouldn’t close. After asking a few questions, I had a hunch I knew what was wrong. So I asked her to look on the ground for a little orange cap (I learned it’s called a wire nut). Scanning the ground, she spotted the wire nut confirming that it was on the ground. “There are probably two wires that are dangling unconnected,” I responded. “Yes” she said. “Well twist the two wires together and use the wire nut to bind them together. And then try the door opener again’” I instructed. She did and of course the door worked.

I think a lot of people are like those disconnected wires. Disconnected from God. Like a live wire they are dis-connected from their source and things just aren’t working. Jesus is, if you will, the connecter that reconnects us with the God who loves us. Our mission to the world is kind of like my conversation with my daughter. We point them to the one who reconnects us, and makes life work.

Stay connected because exciting things are happening!

School has begun and routine is back in full swing! There are lots of great things happen-

ing in The Harbor. We are talking about what is means to be part of a team/group—the

title of the series is “Squad Goals.” We will talk about accountability, unity, common

goals, communication, sacrifice, practice, and having a good coach. Connect groups are

going great. We have added dinner each night for $4. They can sign up on Sunday and

let us know they will be eating on Wednesday and we will have it ready when they arrive at 6:15.

State Youth Convention is fast approaching and students are going to be working hard to raise funds to help

offset the cost of the trip. The corn hole tournament is September 18, the cost is $20 and you can sign up

in the lobby. We are hosting a golf tournament October 22. You can play in the tournament, help by spon-

soring a hole, or provide sponsorship for prizes. The last thing that we have going on is a pumpkin patch

that will begin on October 15. It will be right on the grounds and we will have opportunities to serve and

help with our 1st pumpkin patch. If you can help with any of these, or if you have questions, feel free to

contact us. [email protected] or [email protected].

Say What ???

Jesus said some amazing things while he walked the earth—some of which

caused the people around to ponder...“Say What”??? Your kids 1st—5th

grades are unpacking the words of Jesus and figuring out how those words will

make a difference in their lives.

Preschool & Kindergarten have been asked questions too. What is the Bible & why is it

important? How do we Pray?? We are also reinforcing for them; Jesus Loves YOU and

wants to be your forever friend!!

For all ages we strive to teach the kids to be more like Jesus. As we all grow and de-

velop our faith we must remember What Jesus said “dear children, let us not love with

words or speech but with actions and in truth.” I John 3:18

We are excited for a great season to “Fall in love with Jesus.”

For The Record

It was of great comfort to know the Bayside

Church Family was praying for me during my recent one

week stay in the hospital. Thank you, Molli, and Doug

Hilkert for your visits and prayers. Thank you also for

the lovely dish garden, cards and phone calls.

In His Name,

Neil Shriner

Thank you to my wonderful church family for

the plant, cards, and prayers during my knee replace-

ment surgery. Your concern and kindness are deeply

appreciated and means so much to me.

Love,

Jan Robinson

Bayside!!Oh how I miss you all.

I can’t thank everyone enough for thinking

about me—all the rest of everyone else serving around

the world. The journey is long and tough but our God is

faithful. I am currently in the shipyard (attached to the

USS Nimitz) in Washington and we are supposed to be

headed out to sea in October. I have about 7 months left.

I would’ve never dreamed I would be married—it is so

much fun and he is my blessing through it all.

Pastor Tim I want to thank you for your very encourag-

ing letter. It was very thoughtful. I actually was having

a rough day when I received the box and read your letter.

Please pass on my thank you’s to the rest of the church

who took the time to send me snacks, books and most

importantly, love.

I appreciate every single one of you.

Love,

Katie Seiple
