In a battle between two high school golf teams looking for a win, it came down to a fifth-player
tiebreaker after Kokomo and Taylor tied with scores of 204 on Friday afternoon at the Kokomo
Country Club.
The Wildkats earned the victory when freshman Kike Alberti turned in a score of 60 versus a
score of 66 posted by the Titans’ fifth-place golfer. Alberti was called up to the varsity squad
for the first time on Friday after two other varsity players were unable to compete in the match.
The win was Kokomo’s first this season in a dual match.
Taylor’s Jaden Kosberg easily earned medalist honors on Friday with a two-over par score of
37 on the Country Club’s front nine.
At one point, the Titans had a 10-stroke lead before Kokomo junior Clayton Brown bettered his
Taylor opponent by 10 strokes to create the tie. Brown led Kokomo on Friday with a 49 and
freshman Jackson Richards was next with a 50. Junior Deuce Bailey added a 51 and senior
Isaiah Cardwell finished with a 54.
Saturday the Kats were at the Rochester Invitational.
Cold windy weather created tough playing condition for 13 high school golf teams competing
in the Rochester Invitational held at Round Barn Golf Club on Saturday.
Kokomo finished the tournament in 10th place with a team score of 417.
Culver Military Academy was the winner on Saturday with a team score of 329, and Harley
Pugh of Winamac was the overall medalist with a seven-over par score of 79.
Senior Anthony Barnard, playing in just his second varsity match, was low for the Wildkats
with a score of 94. Richards was next in with a 98 and Bailey added a 100. Brown rounded out
the card for Kokomo on Saturday with a 125.
Kokomo returns to action today in a varsity and junior varsity match against Lafayette Jeff at
Battle Ground Golf Course.
Coach Davis
The Wildkats had a good weekend on the diamond taking all three games to run their record to
10-7 on the year.
The Kats got off to a great start Friday night knocking off Northwestern by a score of 11-1. The
Kats got an outstanding effort from senior Noah Hurlock on the mound. Hurlock went five
innings and allowed one run (unearned) while striking out four and allowing five hits. At the
plate the Kats were paced by a 2-for-3 night from Kyle Wade. He had a triple and home run and
drove in four on the night. Hurlock helped his cause going 2-for-3 with a double, a triple, and an
RBI. Jack Perkins was 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored. Payton McClain was 2-for-3
as well with an RBI. Colt Munsey scored twice for the Kats.
On Saturday the Kats stayed hot sweeping visiting Brebeuf by scores of 10-3 and 14-4.
In the first game, Charez Butcher pitched well to get the win. Butcher went five innings and
allowed only one earned run while striking out six. Offensively the Kats were led by Perkins 2-
for-4 game with a triple and four RBIs. McClain collected three RBIs and scored two runs, and
Nate Hemmerich had two RBIs and scored two runs. Jaden Armfield went 2-for-4, and Munsey
scored twice.
In the second game, the Kats took care of the Braves in five innings. Hemmerich got the win
going five innings. He allowed one earned run and struck out six. Offensively the Kats were led
by Wade’s 4-RBI game. Wade had double and two runs scored. Luke Cameron added four RBIs
of his own with a three-run double. McClain stayed hot going 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Hurlock
was on base all day and scored four runs. Munsey and Perkins each were driven in twice.
The Kats finished a tough stretch of the season healthy and look forward to finishing the second
half of the season strong. That starts Tuesday at Zionsville for a great test for the Kats. The Kats
return home next Saturday for round one of the NCC Tournament at the stadium. Game time is
11:00 a.m. against a team yet to be determined.
Hope to see you at the park.
Coach Swan
The Lady Kats swept a doubleheader at Muncie
Central by scores of 16-1 and 17-1 on Saturday.

Ellie Trine was 3-for-4, and Savannah Emmons
was 2-for-4 with a triple. Katelyn Dowden
added a pair of hits in three at-bats as well. We
pounded out 17 hits as a team.
In game two, Trine got her first varsity win in
the circle, throwing three innings and only
allowing one earned run as we won 17-1 in five
innings.
Sarah Stonebraker pitched the last two innings
and didn't allow a run.
At the plate, Katelyn had three hits including a
double, Olivia Branch was 3-for-4, Lauryn had

Municipal Stadium for our Cancer Awareness
game against Western. Game time is 6:00. We
will be honoring Megan McConnell. We'd love
to have a great crowd.

The Lady Kats traveled to Lafayette Jeff on a chilly Saturday morning. Layers and
blankets were back out for the day!
The ladies fought through the cold to win 23 games on the day, although not taking a set
from the Bronchos.
Our most notable performances came at # 2 doubles, where the team of Shelby Hopkins
and Cloey Baldock lost 7-5, 6-4.
The doubles teams are really starting to work well together.
The final score was Jeff 5, Kokomo 0
Our next match is Wednesday at home with Peru.
Coach Hemmerich
On Saturday the boys competed in the Kokomo Relays and
placed fifth out of eight teams with a score of 64. Crown Point
won the relays with a score of 137.33 followed by Noblesville
(97),Chesterton (88) and Mount Vernon(69).
Highlights for the Kats included Quincy Armstrong taking
second in the 110 Hurdles with a time of 15.32, Steven Edwards
claimed second in the 100 with a dash of 10.98, and Drake
Blackburn took second in the pole vault with vault of 11 feet, 6
inches.
Armstrong teamed with Andra Nash, Julian Wallace, and
Malakai Smiley to take second in the shuttle hurdles with a time
of 1:07.62. Edwards and Nash teamed up with Chris Thomas
and Noa Wainscott to take third in the 4x100 with a time of
45.55, and Julian Wallace teamed up with Edwards, Thomas,
and Armstrong to claim third in the Sprint Medley with a time
2:32.42.
Overall the boys competed well against top competition. We will
use this meet as a building block as we head to conference this
weekend and sectional in a couple weeks.
The guys will be back on the track on Tuesday as we head to
Maconaquah to have a meet with the Braves and the Taylor
Titans. This will be our last meet before conference.
Hope to see you there!
Coach Ousley
