Unleashing the Church Transforming the Community Changing the World

Those who had been scattered, preached the word wherever they went. Acts 8:4

Discipling Marketplace Leaders envisions every local church discipling

every member to be the church in every marketplace so that all may flourish

to the glory of God.

Unleashing the Church Transforming the Community Changing the World

Colossians 3:23:

Whatever you do, work at it with all

your heart, as working for the Lord,

not for human masters.

Rev. Johnson Asare,

Tamale, Ghana:

After a quarter of a

century as business

as mission practi-

tioner, DML minis-

try came to trans-

form and catapult

our work to a higher

ground. Faith and Work are interfaced

consistently. Daily routines and behav-

ioral patterns that honor God are in-

variably displayed at the market-

place. More souls are being won at

the marketplace. And economic gains

have also become our portion .

The Purpose of the Church

Ephesians 4:12 (NLT) 12 Their (leaders) responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ.

The Christian life is to be built around three core themes: the Great Commitment (Gen. 1:28), the Great Commandment (Matt. 22:37), and the Great Commission (Matt.

28:19,20). God called us to fill the earth and care for all creation. Gen. 2:15 shows this in action: Adam and Eve worked in the

garden and guarded it. The process of work and life is to be motivated by love and kindness, the Great Commandment. The Great Commission becomes the message of word and deed as we carry out the Great Commitment as unto the Lord (Col. 3:23?) motivated by his love (2 Cor. 5:14). Jesus mod-eled these during his life and work on earth. The Book of Acts shows this in action as the young Church expanded.

Now is the time for leaders to “equip” God’s people to live out the message while they work out their calling to do work as an act of worship. DML believes the message of Jesus was the catalyst to a movement that released his followers to proclaim the Kingdom of God in the marketplace, where life is lived out.

THE MODEL OF HOW WE WORK WITH BUSINESSES:

OUR MISSION

Discipling Marketplace Leaders educates, equips, and

empowers the local church to establish a ministry that

disciples every believer to live out work as worship

and mission.

Moving from Church to Denomination to

Ministry:

DML has been blessed in recent years to find open doors with de-

nominations who desire to see this ministry become part of the

fabric of the church. Just as most churches have youth, women or

men’s ministries, they have decided to make a Workplace or Busi-

ness ministry a permanent part of their structure. We have been

blessed to work with denominations such as the Anglican Church,

Assemblies of God, Pentecostal Assemblies of God, Christian

Missionary Alliance, and other denominations. We are so thank-

ful that God has opened doors to work with more than 30,000

churches and fourteen million members!

But we are also thankful that we have been able to begin working

with other ministries as well, ministries involved in social and eco-

nomic development, church planting, and discipleship. When

these ministries include a ministry that addresses the workplace

and the marketplace, it allows for a much more wholistic approach

to the transformation of a person, city, and nation.

Dr. Ermias Momo, Deputy General Sec-retary of the Ethiopi-an Kale Heywet Church, with 10,000 churches and 10 mil-lion members, said this:

Marketplace Discipleship is very im-portant in our context. Christianity is not a religion that we come on Sun-day, greet Jesus and say, “How are you, I brought my offerings and my gifts, I missed you in the week but now I’m here,” and then at the end of the service you say, “Good-bye Jesus, un-til I see you next week.” That is not Christianity. We worship a God who brings us into the Marketplace. He doesn’t follow us. We have to be led by Him. We have to find him, follow him, and be witnesses for Him. DML helps the Ethiopian Kale Heywet Church with that. Christianity is not for the four corners of the church. It is for the public place. We are to salt and light and therefore members have to be trained to function in the market-place.
