Thoro® Structurite Primer

Thoro Structurite Primer is a one-component, polymer modified reinforcement primer with excellent active rust inhibitingproperties. Mixed with water, Thoro Structurite Primer forms a slurry for application by brush to clean exposedreinforcement and cures to form a light grey coating.

As an anti-corrosion primer for steel reinforcement before concrete repair, Thoro Structurite Primer is recommended for usewhere the reinforcement is within 10 mm of the finish surface or where chlorides are present. The product can also beideally used to prevent rusting of the reinforcement, shortly after cleaning to bright steel and where the final repair work cannot immediately be finished.

THORO STRUCTURITE PRIMER

A one component reinforcement primer Description of product THORO STRUCTURITE PRIMER is a blend of Portland cements, well graded fine filler and redispersible polymer in powder form. Mixed with water, THORO STRUCTURITE PRIMER forms a slurry for application by brush to clean exposed reinforcement. It cures to form a light grey coating. Uses As an anti-corrosion primer for steel reinforcement before concrete repair. THORO STRUCTURITE PRIMER is recommended for use where the reinforcement is within 10 mm of the finish surface or where chlorides are present. Coverage Approx. 1,5 kg / m² powder per layer at approx. 1 mm. ± 0,1 kg powder per meter reinforcement (12 mm) per layer. Packaging 5 kg can. Storage All materials should be stored under cover and clear of the ground. Protect from all sources of moisture and frost. Rotate stock in order not to exceed the shelf life of 24 months. Application Substrate preparation All corrosion by-products should be removed (blank steel) from the full 360° circumference of exposed steel reinforcement to be coated. Preparation should be to ISO standards 8501-1 / 12944-4, degree of purification Sa 2. Mixing Pot life 60 minutes Wet density 1,95 kg/dm³ Mixing liquid ± 0,24 l clean water / kg powder

Each kilogram of THORO STRUCTURITE PRIMER will require app. 0,24 litres of clean water. DO NOT add any other liquid or powder. Gradually blend the powder into the water vigorously with a trowel or paddle until a lump-free, batter-like consistency is obtained. Allow the STRUCTURITE PRIMER mix to stand for 5 minutes for full saturation to take place. Remix before use. Do not re-temper. Application Do not apply when the temperature is below 5°C or expected to fall below 5°C in the next 24 hours. Do not apply to frozen or frost covered surfaces. Apply to the full circumference of the prepared reinforcement using a soft paint brush. A film thickness of approximately 2 mm should be built up in two coats, allowing minimum 30 minutes to harden between coats at 20°C, longer at cooler temperatures. Allow THORO STRUCTURITE PRIMER slurry to cure for 2 hours prior to the application of the repair mortar. Curing Protect from rain until set.

Health and safety THORO STRUCTURITE PRIMER is based on cement and thus can be irritating to the skin and eyes. Gloves and eye protection should be worn. The use of dust masks is recommended. Accidental splashes of the material to the skin and eyes should be immediately washed off with clean water. In the event of prolonged irritation seek medical advice. In the case of ingestion give water to drink and treat symptomatically. Medical advice should be sought. A Material Safety Data Sheet for this product is available on request.
