The courtyard shops: Jeweller, Glassblower, Bistro, Plant centre, Sweet shop, Toy shop, Ladies fashions,Homeware, designer maker and arts & crafts.

Having waded through the rainy days and treasured the brief, but beautiful moments of the British summer, we find ourselves moving into August 2012, slightly lacking a tan, but very excited about the coming months ahead.
Warwickshire’s Sheila Millward kicks off the Gallery season with a stunning collection of landscapes and the September cultural season includes concerts performed by Orchestra of the Swan, Burlington Jazz and Nottingham Symphonic Winds. We are also very excited to be working in partnership with Nottinghamshire County Council’s Village ventures programme. The Thoresby Village Ventures’ Volunteers will be programming and managing high quality performing Arts at Thoresby for local communities to celebrate and enjoy.
Winter brings the Thoresby Food and Arts festival in November, followed by the brand new production of Robin Hood at Thoresby, written and performed by the hilarious Oddsocks, not to be missed, on sale NOW!
Remember, Thoresby courtyard is open 7 days a week (excluding Christmas, Boxing day and New year), shopping always available and look out for the gallery’s Xmas Art Shop in December. All the shops at Thoresby are indepen-dent, if you are coming to see someone specifically – feel free to give them a call. We look forward to seeing you whatever the weather!

“I am a mixed media artist who revels in fine art and ‘unnoble’ materials. Subjects can be the nude, flowers, issue based work and landscape - many of my landscapes are of the Lake District, I love fell walking. I do not draw or paint whilst walking, believing (like Malcolm Whittaker) that this ties me to the memory of the drawing, whereas I want to express the memory of feeling. I work them up in my studio in Leamington Spa from visual memory and imagination.”

Thoresby’s famous ‘Open Exhibition’ is a must see for our audience with up to fifty stunning original pieces of art on show and a great opportunity for artists of all kinds to get involved. There is no theme this year and work can be painting, drawing, printmaking, photography and any other media as long as it is 2D.
Prizes for artists include a solo exhibition worth over £1000, the Tony Wilkinson prize £100, Thoresby Gallery prize £250 and the Warner ‘s Thoresby Hall Hotel purchase.
