Mr. Bates manages and oversees the day-to-day operations of field inspection and testing on the project. He is also responsible for monitoring the budget and reviewing billing with the CM.

Senior Project Manager / QC Manager Tom Bradley International Terminal ($2.1B) / Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) / Los Angeles, CAFeb 2010 to Oct 2013Mr. Bates managed and oversaw the day-to-day inspections operations of the field, office, and laboratory staff. He developed safety programs, held weekly safety meetings, and prepared task hazard assessments for work assigned daily. Through his leadership, the Client’s inspection staff increased and the project was completed 25% under budget. In addition, Mr. Bates located, negotiated fees, and supervised sub-contract inspection firms to ensure work was performed per contract documents; reviewed sub-contractor billing; and ensured sub-contractor was paid promptly. He reviewed all documents, supervised the final deliverables, and led regular meetings with client, building department, and stakeholders. His other responsibilities included developing the Quality Control Plan and supervising its implementation; working with client to devise action plan to reduce budget impact due to changes in scope of services; and meeting with union representative during discussions regarding MLA.

Mr. Bates hired several new inspectors ensuring the project did not suffer because of personnel. The CM hired four different inspection firms for this project. Through Mr. Bates’ ability to identify potential problems and develop solutions, much of the budget for inspection was re-directed to Mr. Bates’ inspection team, increasing his firm’s contract by 350%.
