Allsurfacesmustbeclean,dry,smoothandstructurallysound.Sandfinishplastermustbescrapedsmooth.Cinderorcementblockmustbeplasteredorcementedbeforeapplicationofwallcovering.Newlyplasteredwallsmustbethoroughlydrybeforeapplication.Usualwallpreparationissatisfactoryexceptonasbestosboardandotherhighlyalkalinesurfaces,suchascementblockandportlandcementplaster.Wallsthataretightlysealedwithseveralcoatsofpaintmustbeopenedwithroughsandpiperorsteelwooltoallowadhesivetodry.

Application: 1. Beforecuttingandhanging,checkcolor,condition,quantity,andquality.Becertainpatternandcolorareasordered.Besurethatthereissufficientmaterialtocompletethejob.Noallowanceswillbegivenforcutmaterial.Checkeachrollforuniformshading.Shouldyouhaveanyquestions,contactyourMDCrepresentativeorcustomercare(800)621-4006beforeproceeding.Eventhoughgreatcarehasbeentakenintheproductionofthiswallcovering,variationsintextureandcolorcanoccur.

2. Cutmaterialinconsecutiveboltsequence,asmarkedontheendofeachwrapper.

3. Apre-mixed,heavy-dutyvinyladhesive(i.e.RomanPro732)shouldbeusedbytheinstaller.Donotdilute.

4. Applytherecommendedadhesivetothebackofthematerialusingeitherapastingmachineorpaintroller.Foldeachendtowardsthemiddle,pastedsidestogether,aligningtheedgescarefullysotheydonotdryout.Donotcreasethematerial.Allowthematerialtobookfor10minutes.Thiswillallowtheadhesivetopenetratethefabricbacking,whichisimportantforasuccessfulinstallation.

5. Usestripsinexactorderastheyarecutfromtheroll.Reversingstripsmayreduceshadingattheseams.Fillinoverdoorsandwindowsastheycomewithstripscutinconsecutiveorderfromtheroll.Hangonly1-2stripsatatime.Seamsshouldbeoverlappedanddoublecut.

6. Smoothmaterialtohangingsurfacewithaplasticsmoothieorsoftbristletoeliminateairbubblesandensureadhesion.Removepasteimmediatelyfromsurfacewithcleanwarmwaterusingacleancloth.Changethewateroften.Allowpasteatseamstodrybeforecleaningtopreventseamsfromopening.

7. STOPAFTERAPPLYING3STRIPS.Ifthereareanyvariationsincolorand/orcolormatch,thisshouldbeimmediatelycommunicatedtoMDCforinspectionbeforeproceedingfurtherwithinstallation.

ThomFiliciaContractMylarInstallationInstructionsSTOPANDREADBEFOREINSTALLINGIMPORTANT-Ifatanytimeduringtheinstallationadiscrepancyisdiscovered,STOP,ContactMDCCustomerCareat800-621-4006beforeproceeding.Beforecutting,examinegoodstomakecertainpatterncolorissatisfactoryandasordered.Hardcreasingorwrinklingoftheproductshouldbeavoidedpriortoandduringinstallationasthemetallicsurfacemaybedamaged.Cutpanelsandheadersinrollnumbersequence,makingsurethatrunnumbersarebrokenatINSIDEcornersonly.COMMERCIALWALLCOVERINGMUSTBEINSTALLEDINSEQUENTIALORDER.Eachbolthasabolt/rollnumber.Beginhangingthehighestnumberedboltandworkdowninsequence.Installallwallcoveringunderadequatelightingandheatedconditionsthatwillexistwhenthespaceisoccupied.SURFACEPREPARATION:Removeoldwallcoveringcompletely,andremoveremainingadhesivewithagoodqualityadhesiveremover.Thenrinsewallandallowtodry.Primewallwithaheavyduty,acrylic/latexwallcoveringprimer.Plasterandmasonrywallsurfacesshouldnotexceed5.5%moistureasmeasuredbyamoisturemeter.Donotinstallawallcoveringunlessatemperatureabove65degreesismaintainedinbothareasofinstallationandstorageforthreedaysbeforeandthreedaysaftertheinstallation.Ifthereareanyquestionsconcerningthesurfacetobecovered,atestinstallationofatleastthreestripsappliedthreedaysinadvanceofthemaininstallationisrecommended.APPLICATIONFORDIGITALLYPRINTEDMYLAR/VINYLCOMMERCIALWALLCOVERING:

1. Thiswallcoveringrequirestheuseofaheavyduty,premixedvinyladhesive.Dilutionofadhesiveisnotrecommended.

2. Applytherecommendedadhesivetothebackofthefirststripusingapastebrushorpaintroller,donotuseapastemachine.Worktheadhesiveintocoverthebackcompletely,especiallyneartheedges,beingcarefultokeeptheadhesiveoffthesurface.Foldor“book”eachendtowardthemiddle,pastedsidestogether,aligningtheedgescarefullysotheydonotdryout.Caution:Donotcreasethewallcovering.Allowto“relax”orbookfor10minutes(booking).Thiswillallowtheadhesivetopenetratethebackingwhichisimportantforasuccessfulinstallation.

3. Hangthefirststripparalleltoaplumbline.Tapetheedgeofthefirststripwiththin2”maskingtape,whichwillallowthepatterntoshowthroughwhileprotectingthesurfacefromtheadhesiveofthenextstrip.

4. Forpatternswithadefinitedesign(suchasafloralordamask),donotreversethestrips.Overlapeach

stripapproximately1½”andpositionittomaintainthematchofthepattern.Usingasharprazorknifecutthoroughtheoverlappedareaandremovethetrimmedexcessalongwiththetape.Smooththeedgesbacktothewallforaperfectseam.Thismaterialisdesignedtobeoverlappedanddouble-cut,notbutted!

5. Afterthreestripsareinstalled,inspectthewallcovering.Ifthepatterneffectisnotacceptable,oritthereisvariationinthecolor,discontinuehangingandcontactthedealerordistributorimmediately.Themanufacturerwillnotberesponsibleforlaborbeyondthreestrips.Defectivematerialwillbereplaced.

PRODUCTUSEADVISORY:Thisproductisintendedforuseinbuildingsdesignedandmaintainedtoavoidmoistureaccumulationonorwithinwalls,particularlyinwarm,humidclimates.Thefeaturesthatmakemylarvinylwallcoveringsocleanableanddurablealsorenderitverylowinpermeability.Mylarvinylwallcoveringproductsshouldnotbeinstalledonwallsthatcontainexcessivemoistureorsubjecttomoistureinfiltration(morepermeableproductsshouldbeconsideredforuseundersuchconditions).Ifmoldormildewispresent,orifwallsshowmoisturedamageorhaveexcessmoisturecontent,donotproceedwithinstallation.Moistureinfiltrationandwatervaporinandbehindthewallmustbeeliminatedforproperperformance.Processesthatincreasepermeability,includingmicroventing,shouldbeconsideredforuseundercertainconditions.Inaddition,theuseofamildewinhibitorintheprimerandadhesiveishighlyrecommended.Primersandadhesiveswiththehighestpossiblepermeabilityratingarealsohighlyrecommended.Afterinstallation,thewallsandwallcoveringshouldbemonitoredforpotentialmoistureorwatervaporinfiltrationandaccumulation.Anysuchinfiltrationoraccumulationafterinstallationmustbepromptlyeliminated.
