THIS YEARS FALL FUNDRAISER...Your Cougar Creek PTA presents to you

2014

Hello everyone and thank you for allowing us this opportunity to discuss this years Fall Fundraiser-a Fun Run themed event called the Lakewood Cougar Challenge! We would like to take just a few minutes of your time to share with you the many ideas and objectives for this years Fall Fundraiser. 1

Year after year, the PTA raises money by having the students sell products. This year, we are trying something fun and healthy....

2

We are going to stop magazine sales and jog-a-thons and get the kids involved in a FUN and creative way! 3

Together, with your support we can help get the ball rolling4

and light a fire to propel our kids enthusiasm. 5

and to put the FUN back in Fundraising6

and increase motivation7

so the PTA can keep growing and improving8

participation and Attendance

to increase participation and attendance at our family events.9

REASONSTodays presentation is about showing you our top 5 reasons for changing the Fall Fundraiser and why the Lakewood Cougar Challenge

10

Is better than selling products from magazines.

KIDSENTERTAINEDACTIVE

ANDAREThis years Boot Camp Challenge theme will keep the kids entertained and active. 12

Some of the questions we got about a boot camp themed event were: Are the kids going to do a bunch of push ups, sit ups or chin ups? Are they going to get yelled at by a Sergeant type person? And our answers are all no! 13

Instead lets picture the kids jumping over hay bales, running around the track a few times and zig zagging through an obstacle course set up with cones, rope and other stuff. 14

to Coach Joe and his team for helping us set up the course and event!Thank you

Wed like to send out a special thanks to Coach Joe and his team. Our course this year will be designed, set up, and monitored by Coach Joes fitness academy from Stanwood. Coach Joe has volunteered for the last few years at our year end Field day and the kids love his fun creative station. Thanks Coach Joe for your support!

No CLASStimeshall be used

2The second reason for changing things up: no class time disruption. We will not be doing a jog-a-thon this year so we wont have kids out during class time. We will have a Kick-off assembly on Wed Sept 10th at 2:30 and will keep it brief but fun. All are welcome to attend and help us cheer on Coach Joe and friends while they explain the event to the kids and staff. 16

You! are the key to helping create the culture and buzz around this exciting event. We cant do it without your support, and daily encouragement for the kids to get outside, get moving, and be active.

Fun Runs are the latest trend, and are very well received by most. Our plan is to create a new theme each year to keep the excitement and to build a culture surrounding this yearly event! 18

THE KIDS ARE ACTIVE AND ENTERTAINEDNO MORE CLASS TIME LOST FOR EVENTSFUN RUNS ARE POPULAR AND FUN IDEASTHE PRIZES ARE ENGAGING AND LOCAL SHARED RESOURCES AND 100% PROFITIn Summary, We thought it would be great to do more combined community type events going forward. Eventually all these kiddos will meld together in middle school and the more we do together as a community the easier that transition will be.

The Lakewood Cougar Challenge will be held at the Lakewood High school track on Saturday September 27th from 9 am until noon. This is a family event and community sponsors will be on hand with various activities to keep everyone entertained.

The challenge will start in pre-set wave times to eliminate congestion and to allow younger participants to go at their own pace. In addition there will be a mid-point completion option for those with limited abilities and the little kids if desired.

We will have volunteers at each obstacle to monitor and assist students if needed.

Our goal is for ALL kids to be able to participate and feel good about the challenge!
