This week's theme is dinosaurs! I know everyone is going to
love it! There are so many different activities you can do and
things to find out. Here are your activity ideas to go along
with the theme. Feel free to make up your own though!
Firstly, this website is a fantastic resource to find out about lots of different
dinosaurs! Can you find out about one you haven’t heard of before?

Can you create your own dinosaur Top Trumps cards and play with
your family?
Design and create your own dinosaur. Is it a herbivore or carnivore?
Is it armour plated? Can it fly?
Create a dinosaur mask or headdress.
Go on a virtual tour of the natural history museum. Follow the links to explore a dino
dig and even a 3D model of Dippy the dinosaur’s skull!

Find out how big dinosaurs really were!
Measure out on a floor a dinosaur footprint e.g. T-Rex 1m by 46 cm.
Make the area look like a footprint- mark the edges with string or
even lego blocks! How many of your footprints would fit inside? How
many of your family footprints can you fit inside?
What would you find in a dinosaur’s lair? Make a list/ draw a picture/ make a
dinosaur’s lair using junk modelling materials or lego. You could even make your own
junk model dinosaur to live there!

Innovate a story you know to create your own dinosaur story! We all know the
story, 'The Tiger who came to tea' but what if a dinosaur came to tea?! How could
you change the words in this story to make it about what might happen if a dinosaur
came to tea?
What about ‘We’re all going on a dinosaur hunt?’
You could act out your new story or write it down.
Make edible Dinosaur Eggs!
You will need:
3 tablespoons of butter—melted
5 cups of mini marshmallows—melted with butter
gently in microwave
6 cups of Rice Krispies
6 small cookies—broken into chunks
Combine wet and dry ingredients. Shape into eggs.
While they are cooling, get your dinosaurs ready to display with them.
Eat and enjoy!

DIY Dinosaur Excavation Kit You will need:
Flour
Salt
Water
Food Colouring
Sand or Soil
Paint Brush
Small Tray
1. Mix together 2 cups of flour, 1 cup of salt and 1 cup of water.
2. Knead the dough for 2 minutes or until it is firm.
3. Create dinosaur bones with the salt dough. (There is no wrong or right way to do
this, just have fun! Be silly and creative.)
4. Use a bit of food colouring to give the bones some age before baking them.
5. Bake the dinosaur bones for about 30 minutes
6. Take the bones out of the oven and allow them to cool completely.
7. Add the bones into a tray with sand or soil. Invite your little ones to dig through
the sand to find the bones.
8. Add in a dry paint brush to sweep the sand off the bones.
Then have fun playing!
