Week 1
Sunday, May 3, 2015
The Fifth Sunday of Easter 9:00 AM and 10:30 AM
CELEBRATION SUNDAY - Our senior pastor Burt Brooks will be delivering his last sermon at The Brandermill Church on Sunday, May 17
th, after which he will
be taking the remainder of his time to spend with his family and prepare for his new ministry. Burt will be on call for pastoral and administrative needs until his last official day, Tuesday, June 30th. We will have one combined service on Sunday May 17
th at 10:30 AM, followed by a reception for Burt and Florence,
Ben, Clay, Sam, Kelli, and Mattie. We hope that you will plan to be here and join us in this celebration. Please contact John Chamberlain at [email protected] for more information. MOTHER’S DAY BRUNCH - Horst and the men of the church invite all ladies of the church to brunch on Sunday, May 10. Brunch will be served in Room 205 between 9:30 and 10:30 AM and ladies are invited to dine at their convenience during that time. Please mark the attendance pad with “MOM” or call the church office (744-3661, ext. 101) to let us know you’re coming. MEN, we still need vol-unteers to set up, serve, run food, help care for mom’s children (so she can enjoy her meal!), etc. Call Dawn at the number above to volunteer to help.
COMMUNITY SHELTER - We will be serving dinner this evening. We will meet at the church at 4 PM to prepare dinner, leave for the shelter at 5:30 and expect to return around 8 PM. Please contact Jeff Branyon at [email protected] for more info. SERVING BEHIND THE SCENES - The Worship Committee is looking for several people to volunteer to work behind the scenes to make our services special. Your help is needed to prepare communion and prepare the altar for worship. Both of these can easily happen on a Saturday and, while neither take much time, both are essential. Please contact Alice Lescault at [email protected] to volunteer your help. BATTER UP! - The church plays in a mildly competitive co-ed softball league open to ages 11 and older. The next game is Friday, 5/8 at 8:30 PM. Please contact Jeff Branyon at 320-3616 or [email protected]. MEN’S BREAKFAST will be Saturday, May 9 in the Multi-Purpose Room at 8 AM. Our speaker will be Rev. Ben Campbell, best known for his work at Richmond Hill. Rev. Campbell will talk about his vision for the future of transportation in the Richmond region. You can sign up on the attendance pads in the sanctuary, on the sheet outside Dawn's office, or e-mail or call her. PASTOR SEARCH COMMITTEE (PSC) - Members of the Brandermill Church congregation interested in serving on the pastor search committee (PSC) should contact Chuck Clement, council chair, at [email protected] by May 17, 2015. SPECIAL CONGREGATIONAL MEETING - Sunday, May 31 at 11:45 AM to approve the PSC nominating committee’s slate of candidates for the Pastor Search Committee. The meeting agenda will also include discussion on the PSC search process and expectations.
