Mathilde Morin, Elodie Ayrinhac, Kate Stent Over the past 18 months the statue of our Lady of Walsingham has been taken from its usual home of the Slipper Chapel at Walsingham and has been touring the Catholic cathedrals of England and Wales. On the afternoon of Thursday 20th of February the statue arrives at Clifton Cathedral where it will remain until late on Saturday afternoon. As you may well be aware England has been dedicated to Mary for hundreds of years, and the bishops of England and Wales have decided that this year they will have a rededication of England as the Dowry of Mary. This rededication on March 29th is both a personal promise of the people of our country and the renewal of the interest of the entrustment vows made by King Richard II in 1381. The first dedication made by King Richard at Westminster Abbey as he sort the protection of Our Lady in the face a great political turmoil. At this point England received the title of Marys Dowrymeaning that the whole of England was set aside as a gift, a dowry for Our Lady and thus under her guidance and protection At a time in our country of division then the seeking of Marys maternal love to guide us can be a significant source of blessing. With her motherly love she can lead us to the healing of divisions in our nation. As a means of preparation it would be good for families and individuals to say the rosary over the coming weeks as a way of setting our hearts to be more in tune with those of our Blessed Mother as we prepare for this rededication. Mgr Bernard MASS CHANGE The ceiling and upper walls at St Teresas will be painted on the week commencing Mon 10th Feb. As a result the Mass on Friday 14th at 10.00 am will be held at St Georges.
