To Our Community,
On Tuesday, 12/3, as I waited for my students to get off the bus
and start their day at PLE, I witnessed an amazing sight. A little girl
came running, almost out of nowhere, and wrapped her arms around
the legs of our Resource Officer, Jeremy Chavez. He patted her head,
spoke to her, and away she went. Six or seven more students
repeated this behavior also going away smiling. Officer Chavez greeted
many more students by name and soon retreated into the building.
The tears began to well in my eyes and I thought how fortunate
we are to have a person like this in our school system. Almost like an
angel. That’s it! That’s it! I have been struggling for the right words to
convey adequate thanks to our community for all their contributions
to our food pantry. That’s it! - ANGELS!
We have an abundance of angels in our area who do so much
more than you know. They are all around us! The biggest thank you
ever goes to them!
Our trustee, our Superintendent, principals, teachers, staff,
students, parents. Some parents donate food – others write generous
checks – others drop off food without being asked to do so. Some take
several Angel Tree tags! We have bus drivers who prepare food daily
for those who are hungry and others give dollars quietly. Our sincerest
gratitude to each and every one of our dearest angels.
When you have a chance, take a moment, sit and look and listen.
You too may hear the rustle of those angel wings.
Sincerely,
Christine Wallace,
Porter Township Food Pantry
