This Week: Being the voice of Jesus using our voice to be helpful to others? Childrens Chat!! What are the parts of the body of Jesus that we have talked about so far in this series? What are we talking about today? How would life be different if you could not talk? Or if no one could speak? Is everyones voice the same or different? Who said that? Can you feel where your voice comes from? Look at the picture. Using Your Voice For Ministry The balloon works like your throat. Change your voice with helium! What is ministry? How did Jesus use his voice to help others? How can your voice help you help others? Our Purpose Our purpose is to follow Christ as His disciples and ministry is a part of that journey. Jesus Speech: 1) Jesus speech was helpful to people. 2) Jesus spoke to draw attention to sin. 3) Jesus speech was grounded in the word. 4) Jesus speech was controlled. John 4:4-26 Page 1651 Vs 10 "If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water. John 4:26 Then Jesus declared, I who speak to you am he. Jesus used his voice to help her. Jesus Speech Drew Attention to Sin Matthew 5:21-22 Page The whole Sermon on the Mount shows Jesus defining sin. Matthew 5:21-22 Page 1502 "You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, `Do not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.' 22 But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to his brother, `Raca, ' is answerable to the Sanhedrin. But anyone who says, `You fool!' will be in danger of the fire of hell. Jesus Spoke the Word: MT 4:10 Jesus said to him, "Away from me, Satan! For it is written: `Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.' " MT 4:11 Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him. His Speech was Controlled: Matthew 9:1-8 Page 1508 Which is easier: to say, `Your sins are forgiven,' or to say, `Get up and walk'? 6 But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins...." Jesus used his voice to help people, heal people, and create the world! Jesus knew when to challenge people and when to let it go. He knew when to defend himself and how to get to the heart of the matter.
