A Promise of God
Jesus came to his own people, and even they rejected him. But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God.

Christmas Eve Candlelight services TONIGHT
Candlelight services are set for tonight at 5:00, 7:00 and 11:00pm. Pastor Greg is preaching at all three. The Christmas Eve offering again this year will support two ministries: 1) The Blessing Home at the Thailand Methodist Mission, which rescues children from the sex and drug trade plus 2) Scott County Habitat for Humanity. Join us Christmas Eve as we celebrate the birth of the Savior!
AMEN House in critical need of various items
The Associated Ministries Easing Need (AMEN) House provides various emergency services to citizens of Scott County. Currently, they have a critical need for: laundry soap, dish soap, deodorant, toothpaste, shaving cream, shampoo/conditioner, body wash, toilet paper, paper towels, peanut butter, cereal, soup, pasta sauce and pasta. Items may be dropped off in the “AMEN House” designated basket in the narthex or to the AMEN House directly. If you have any questions, please contact Randy Loschert at randy [email protected].
Next Sunday is Fifth Sunday Offering for Methodist Home
The Kentucky United Methodist Homes for Children and Youth (KyUMH) offering is next Sunday, December 31. Every 5th Sunday, we support this ministry to children and youth with histories of abuse, neglect and/or family trauma. KyUMH brings hope and healing to over 150 youth and families throughout Kentucky each day though residential and community-based programs. So far this year, we have given over $5,000 to the home. Check out kyumh.org to read success stories and more about the ministry. You can donate online at our website or make a donation in the offering plate. Please designate that it is for the Methodist Homes. Thank you for your part in sustaining this ministry for 145 years!
Winter Blitz for youth is January 19-21
Winter Blitz is set for January 19-21. The cost is $55 and the deadline to register is Sunday, January 7. For more information, please contact Kathryn Reed at [email protected].
Scheduling meetings and events in 2018
If you are a team leader, committee chair or someone who simply serves as the organizer for a church event or gathering, please call Shannon Shepherd at 502-863-0173 and schedule your events for 2018 as soon as possible. Generally, we allocate space on a “first come, first served” basis. Recurring events like VBS, Back to School Bash, recitals, Thanksgiving dinner, City of Bethlehem, etc. are not automatically scheduled from year-to-year. Our facilities are in great demand from within our church and increasingly from our community. Don’t lose out through delay. Please remember to schedule time for setup and cleanup before and after your meeting or event.

Children can be picked up in the following rooms immediately after worship: 3 & 4 year olds (Room 102), 5 year olds-kindergarten (Room 103), first and second grades (Room 105), third grade (Community Room B), 4th grade (Room 104), fifth grade (Room 106). All these rooms are in the new addition.

Thank you from the church staff
As members of the church staff we are deeply grateful for the generous Christmas love offering this year. We count it a privilege to serve the Lord Jesus in his church and to be in ministry with all of you. Thank you for your extravagant generosity! Our office staff also thanks all of you who brought cards and goodies to the office these past weeks. Our prayer for 2018 is from Ephesians 3:20-21, “Now to him who by the power at work within us is able to accomplish abundantly far more than all we can ask or imagine, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”
UMW planning meeting set for Monday, January 2
Mark you calendars: The United Methodist Women will hold their yearly planning meeting on Monday, January 2 at 10:30am in Room 105. If you have questions, please email Jeanne Jones at [email protected].
2018 Offering envelopes are available in the narthex
The 2018 offering envelopes are available for pick up starting TODAY in the narthex. They are alphabetized by last name. If you would like to start receiving envelopes, stop receiving them or have any questions, please contact Su Proctor at [email protected].
Christmas card boxes in narthex
Christmas card boxes are located in the narthex just outside the church office. Please stop by today and see if you have cards waiting for you. All unclaimed cards will be discarded after January 8.
Christmas care package reaches Traci Ashcraft
Becky Ashcraft informed us this week that Traci got our care packages and was just filled with joy over what her church family had sent to her. Becky was so thankful for our generous giving spirit and was truly touched by what was done for her daughter. She says, “Thank you, church family!” Traci is serving in the U.S. Air Force in South Korea.
Last day for 2017 contributions is Sunday, December 31
To receive credit for your 2017 contributions, your cash or check must be in the church office or offering plate by Sunday, December 31.

What can I give him, poor as I am? If I were a shepherd, I would bring a lamb; If I were a wise man, I would do my part; Yet what can I give him? Give him my heart.
